Well, I have to head to class. I'll be back at 3:00 PST.

Sorry for not getting a whole lot of benchmarks up. But I promise when I get back (and get some of my coursework wrapped up) I'll get some benchmarks goin'.

Just make sure to use the SATA fix for Bootcamp... you can create the slipstreamed install disc before your Mac Pro arrives.

There's a fix for the slowness when starting up windows???

Where can I get this fix?

F&%^ COURSEWORK...WE WANT OUR BENCHMARKS!!!!!!

More than benchmarks, i just want to know if it really is a quiet video card under typical and heavy usage. I think we all know fairly well how the X1900 performs considering it's been out for some time on the PC side.

HIT IT!

Even if you change your mind, you got weeks to cancel ;)

I'm not sure that's true. I just ordered mine yesterday. A 2.66, X1900, BT and Airport and I cannot cancel it.

Not sure if that's because I just ordered it yesterday or that they are starting to catchup with orders.

I figured this was the case and why I'm waiting. I'm not expecting any surprises, but I just want to hear a little bit about the X1900 performance in OS X and Windows.

Plus, something could happen on Tuesday to change things (new promo, etc).

I'm afraid I'm not blessed with that sort of self-control. :)

Tuesday was too far away.

Well my mac pro is lost...Fedex is trying to find it.

It left Dulles today at 8am and was supposed to be delivered by an hour ago and no one knows where it went. It hasn't checked in to the local fedex office yet so it probably won't be here until tomorrow.

The good thing is that I called apple about this and they refunded my $61 shipping cost and apologized, so I'm no longer an angry man =)

Thanks for the support.
That sucks btw when you see people all over the world getting theirs.
Make me feel like a retarded canadian dork stereotype.
Like if all canadians use slingshots at war, drives all ski doo's and ride horses instead of driving cars:D

heh, mine shipped last night! Should be arriving at my doorstep tomorrow sometime (in Toronto).

I'll run it through it's paces tomorrow night and let everyone know how it runs (ie. BF2, WoW, Oblivion, etc) :)

I'd like to hear more about Mac WoW(if you have it) put through its paces :)

Well, unfortunately, my WoW account has no play time on it. If someone has a 10-day game card or something I could get it up try it, but at the moment, I can't really log in.

Sure. Send me your e-mail and I can send you a trial key.

Honestly, I'm interested in general X1900 performance, be it WoW or anything else, as well as Windows performance.

I'm not expecting any surprises -- benchmarks for the X1900 for PCs have been around for ages -- but it's always nice to hear first-hand impressions from another user.

E-mail sent.

Ok. I've run the retouch artists PS speed test. Here's the low down.

Machine: Mac Pro 2x2.66Ghz | 4x512GB RAM (256bit mode) | 2x2407WFP
Photoshop: History States=1 | Scratch Disk = startup

1st Run: 1:23
2nd Run: 1:17

It SMOKED my PBG4. Not even a fair fight.

I ordered mine on the 20th of august with x1900 and BT. When the price cut came I tried to contact Apple's support numbers here in Finland with no luck (I paid with wire transfer so I wanted to know what to do to get the rebate). "Service unavailable" and the like.

Frushtrated, I contacted Apple by mail and asked if I could downgrade to 160GB while they were sending some greenbacks my way anyhow. I mentioned thrice that I would rather stick with 250GB if the change caused a shipping delay. "I don't think it will cause a delay" I get replied after the change. Eek.

Estimated shipping went from 26th of september to 2 october! Excellent. Well I wrote a pretty pissy reply to Apple and Boom. MY MAC PRO SHIPPED TODAY!

THANKS APPLE! Love ya.

Just wait until CS3 comes out! You will really be smoking.
My dual 2.0 G5 was 3 min. with the default history states . . . probably knock it down to 140s with 1 state.

I called the Apple Store at lunchtime today to ask what was happening with my order and was told that it would be dispatched on or before the 25th of September. Checking the on-line order showed the same date as an estimated date of shipping.

On getting home tonight, I fire up Mail and - lo! - there is an email from the Apple Store telling me that the order was shipped today (7th) and is due for delivery on the 12th.

Yay! I just need to get some more hard drives for it before it gets here.
I've heard this before, so I figured I'd give it a shot too. I called and there's no change on my order date. Checked my status online, still expected to ship on Sept 29. I'm running out for a few hours, hopefully when I get home I'll get the e-amil my Mac Pro has shipped. Thats how it works right?? :D While I was on the phone I asked about free upgraded shipping because of the delays, but they didn't bite. Was worth a try.

You could call them up and say you've had enough of this waiting and want to cancel, get irate and then say well you might consider waiting if they upgrade your shipping.
