The Apple Australia site now says 7 - 10 bus days shipping for the Mac Pro with 8800GT!!!

So hopefully those of us who ordered fairly early on get ours within that time frame or sooner. It just seems kind of unfair that someone who ordered theirs 4 weeks ago will basically get it at the same time as someone who orders now. As long as I get mine within ten days I'll be happy.

(Ordered on 14th of Jan)

what about Next Byte? they are a much better Apple reseller IMO as they specialise in selling and repairing Apple products. they are closer than a real Apple Store than Myer will ever be.

They would be, except they're a true reseller - Myer's city store has at least a couple of people on the Apple payroll working their store while the new store is built. Doesn't make much of a difference though, for some reason Apple thinks it's a good idea to make buying through a store a bad move. I only went to the store for the staff discount in the end.

An 10.5 month vacation? That's what I call a holiday... Your ACD is the least of your worries.

Sure is one long holiday... I think I'd need a holiday from the holiday if I took that long off.

I was hoping the order status would have changed for me today while I was at work, but looks like I'm out of luck.

Getting closer... my MacPro has cleared customs in Sydney. Maybe I'll get it tomorrow?

Just out of interest did you go with standard shipping or express shipping? Because the reseller I ordered through says it usually takes 10 days from when it ships but yours is nearly here in 3 days?

When you order direct from apple.com.au, there seems to be only one shipping method available, whether it is an iPod or a CTO Mac Pro. Standard shipping is it. In this case they estimated 3-5 days, I believe.

They are shipping direct from China, so there are really only two options for any shipper, a boat or a plane. A boat takes weeks, a plane takes a day. So standard shipping is a plane. Since Sydney is being used as the port of entry (customs), it seems that you get a time closer to the 3 days (1 day travel, 1 day on either end for customs, ground transport). If it was going to Darwin, I imagine 5 days would be more likely.

That's good to hear, better than the ten days the reseller told me...Man I hope mine ships soon, I'm driving myself mad over it, checking these forums every hour or two.

If yours has shipped hopefully mine has, I ordered don the 14th, although they have been a bit weird with dates...I'm never ordering from a reseller again, the wait is unbearable when you can't even find out if it's shipped!!! :(

Ordered mine through Myer (the closest thing Melbourne has to an official Apple store at this stage) on Jan 23rd. Standard-spec machine, plus 8800GT. No other customisations though.

Eww. How can you say that. Next Byte, Comp Now - there are plenty and they actually offer pro support and flexi-rent etc

All things considered, I'm really unimpressed. The Apple website has promised 2-3 week shipments for quite a while now, and still says exactly the same thing. The complete lack of communication from the reseller doesn't make me feel any better either.

This is what happens when you order a Pro machine from MYER of all places.

Cmon blokes, the Canadians are up to three pages.

Ordered mine through a reseller 19th Jan, still says "Awaiting stock arrival".

I'm in Victoria.

Still says Prepared for shipment. I wonder how long it'll take to get here to Melbourne. I hope it'll be here for the weekend but I have a feeling it will get here Monday or Tuesday.

Mine was "prepared for shipment" as of 6pm on Saturday, it shipped 11pm Saturday, then arrived in Sydney, Tuesday 8am. Friday is still possible for you.

Hopefully you're right. Thanks for the info. How are you finding your machine anyway? Is the video card pretty quiet? I'm using mine as an audio recording hub with logic studio and some minor work in soundtrack pro / final cut.

Alas, it is still in the box. Christmas won't come until Thursday for me. (Too many meetings, too much work to have any down time)

 I would go insane! I mean, I'm going insane now, let alone knowing my shiny new mac pro is sitting at my house in a box!
