I've used SplashID for years- have never been totally thrilled by it, although it has done its job for the most part. One thing that is annoying is that they charge for almost every update it seems like. I've re-bought the app many times over the years and it basically does the same stuff it did years ago.

If you've used both, is 1Password better than SplashID in your opinion?

Anyone using Interarchy for FTP? I have been using CyberDuck but it seems to crap out on uploads, A LOT! I really need a decent FTP client but don't want to spend $50 for just one. I have never used Interarchy before . . . any thoughts?

I do like getting "MacFamilyTree", "Default Folder X", "Swift Publisher".

are there other, better bundles out there?

I'm new to the Mac world with my new iMac, and would like to know what the best software to get for my iMac would be, and preferably family licenses since we have a Mac book air too. bundles seem to be the way to go, but i understand sometimes you have to get individual applications.

Right now the 2 Mac's have all the original software plus MS Office for Mac.

I'm thinking about getting windows 7 and running boot camp for PC games, but not for a while because Win 7 is so expensive.$200-$300 for Win 7 premium or pro. So, I'm currently only talking about Mac Software.

I don't understand why it is called 'indie' software!

Surely any software written outside of the Apple company is independent and therefore 'indie'.....or is it a term used to attract metrosexual urban hipsters?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Indie can be a vague term but there are some clear divisions. No one would argue that adobe or ea were indie developers.

In this case I think there's a dual meaning. In that there is no middle man in the bundle. And they are small companies.

The 1Password software is almost a must have now for Mac.

While I've bought a few in the past, these bundles are generally full of useless apps that either duplicate functionality I already have, or are a slick interface without a useful purpose. Out of 34 apps in 3 previously purchased bundles, I can say that I use 2 on a fairly regular basis, 3 on a very occasional basis, and maybe 2 more that I keep meaning to start using. That's it. The rest are just taking up hard drive space.

For this one, I've been looking for something like 1Password for a while. Apple's Keychain Access has been great for saving passwords and secure credit card numbers (Discover's Secure Online Numbers where you generate a unique one for each website). But in their infinite lack of wisdom, Apple did not make a version for iOS, so all that data in the keychain is useless on the go.

Unfortunately I tried a demo of 1Password a few months ago, and was thoroughly unimpressed. Its browser extension crashed Safari constantly (and was thus useless) and it offered no easy option to import data from the keychain. You'd think keychain import would be a no-brainer, but nope. I eventually figured a way around it (I think it required enabling the browser extension, praying Safari didn't crash, and importing from Safari - very unintuitive!). I felt disgusted that they wanted $40 for such a buggy program - PLUS more for the iPhone version, or even more for the universal iOS version.

Any better alternatives? I've even considered going the route of making my own software for this, but free time isn't exactly plentiful...

You should have emailed Agile for help. Like I said previously, their support is first rate.

But, if you don't like it, so be it. :)

huh?

Top of what? LOL years working in the sales and service of Mac Computers, and most of these I have never heard of. It seems many of these have been replaced with this new fangled thing called a search engine. I heard Google has a decent algorithm.

OOOO, First rate EMAIL support! that changes everything. Who knows, maybe they even pulled out all the stops and have created a FAQ page!

1password is really great

Though it's available on windows now, it's still one of the best things about the mac (in addition to quicklook, time machine, spotlight, iLife, etc)... my work process involves logging into dozens of test sites, and for security purposes those passwords change often. 1Password makes the login process easy (CMD-\) and I can store and change those crazy long secure passwords without typing them in or having some spreadsheet like my coworkers do.

Along with the other MacUpdate items, it's totally worth it.

btw, with Dropbox, my 1password exists on all my personal devices (iPhone, MBP, work laptop (Win7), iPad, etc)

bundles

I bought the first bundle and I really happy with it.
As for me bundle is a great way to save money and get several apps at once :)
