Here’s some wayback Mac appearances in the James Cameron series, Dark Angel:
If you’re unfamiliar with it, the two-season series (which really deserved a third, but FOX cancelled it on a massive cliffhanger) was filmed between 2000 and 2002, and set between 2019 and 2021 in Seattle (shot in Vancouver, as usual), after an electromagnetic pulse bomb wiped out digital wealth of a big chunk of the U.S. in 2009, sending it into an economic depression. So appearances of things like tech and cars are “aged” appropriately to reflect extended usage from gear which would otherwise be obsolete (had that 2009 event not happened). [Don’t worry, none of this is a spoiler, as it’s all discussed during the pilot and it sets everything up for all to follow.]
In the pilot, there’s a dude who traffics information like a private investigator, even though he owns a laundromat — using a beater of a 1998 or early 1999 iMac with the polycarbonate case completely removed and duct tape in places, but still with the original shielding as found in the early editions:
Later in the first season (probably filmed in February or March 2001), there’s one of the main characters who uses a Mac Cube G4 on one of the early Cinema Displays as his daily driver:
And amazingly, his desktop, running OS 9 (I’m fairly certain), looks eerily like Big Sur, replete with the Harman Kardon speakers:
There are likely other Mac appearances I forgot about. It’ll take a re-watching of the whole thing at some point, but those are the ones which come to mind.
