Excellent information! I'm now at the stage of experimenting with various types of files/loading/unloading deleting and finding Shareware/Add-ons or Utility programs that round off the Mac experience.

I'm still having issues with Mac .rar, I can't seem to figure out how it works once I've downloaded it. I also tried a Dvix download but wasn't having any luck with it either, however using VLC seems to have corrected that little snafu.

Stuffit works for .rar files. I think there is a link in the guide, if not just google Stuffit.

In addition to Stuffit, you can try MacHacha or Rar Expander. My favorite is Rar Expander. You simply drag the first file in a group of .rar files to either of the above listed apps' icons and it will do the rest.

This is great.
I have actually been looking for a list like this for quite a while, I was afraid of asking the same questions you guys get asked everyday so I did a quick search and I got your guide.
Really super helpful!

I'll give that a try. Thanks for the method in how its use too, I've discovered a few programs that are simply drag and drop, which is neat and easy.
