No hard feelings Apple, just bring back a 27" iMac M1 or M2 after you sucked the bucks out of the suckers that are willing to pay $6K for a glorified iMac.

I'm thinking it's bad Monterey. I've got an external Thunderbolt SSD enclosure (OWC Envoy Express) that started randomly ejecting with the installation of the Monterey betas and it's still happening to this day, although less frequently, with the release version of Monterey 12.3. I had zero problems before Monterey.

Thanks for replying. I’m now pretty much there too. It’s fine when I use the same cable to a Catalina and High Sierra Mac but won’t maintain a stable connection directly attached to Studio Ultra… or via some hubs I’ve tried attached to Studio Ultra.

Hopefully, a Monterey update will make this part of macOS work like prior versions. I miss “just works.” $6K and waiting for a software update… to keep an external hard drive connected. ?

I’m waiting for the hack that will turn the A13 in the monitor into a working standalone computer or iPad.
The A13 is performing some tasks like FaceTime Center Stage which you couldn't do without it. That isn't available on Macs it only runs on iPhones and iPads. Also the spatial audio processing for the internal speakers. They still need to make some tweaks to the video processing via A13 as its not as good as it should be.

I wonder why they didn’t make the same power cable with the Ethernet jack as with the new iMac? This monitor will be used with MacBook Pros, which don’t have a built-in Ethernet port. It’s a big miss on the Apple part.

Is the power cable pass-through hole on the Studio Display stand somewhat sharp like on the iMac? Mine has worn away at the white cable insulation a fair amount. I guess it's just from sitting there and occasionally spinning the iMac around to access the back? Weird design.

I really don’t get why everyone on other reviews are so happy with this SD slot. I love the one in my 2013 iMac even if it was on the back, however, a pro photographer needs a CFExpress type B slot. I would probably hardly ever use the SD slot.
There are internet forum “professionals“ and actual ones.

I need a CFexpress type a slot. Pros use Sony, too.

unboxing videos don't move me much.
I never understood this whole Unboxing thing on social media.

It’s tapping into the momentary buzz people get from buying a new toy—albeit vicariously. If you’re finding it hard to enjoy these videos, perhaps your real life is a little too rich and varied—try reducing your face-to-face socialising, meaningful work and time spent outdoors, and see if that helps.

Firstly this video is just an ad for some type of hub.

But my god, this guy is so negative. Did it do anyone else’s head in? It started with a rant about the box getting wet, a few bubbles in the screen cover and so on.

Streweth mate, enjoy the experience and the privilege of having the latest kit.

If you’re going to be negative, pick something worthwhile.
