Nearly six months after launch, the Mac Studio continues to face significant delays on Apple's website, with M1 Ultra configurations facing up to a 10-week delay.

The baseline Mac Studio with the M1 Max chip is estimated to ship in one to three weeks, depending on specific storage and memory options. Customers looking to get their hands on the more powerful M1 Ultra chip will have to wait at least seven weeks for the standard option with a 48-core GPU and up to 10 weeks for the 64-core GPU option.

The Mac Studio, despite being a high-end product that starts at $1,999, has been in high demand since it launched in March 2022. The Mac Studio is a hybrid between a Mac mini and a Mac Pro, offering customers a comprehensive arrangement of ports in a compact design with powerful performance.

Paired with the Mac Studio is the Studio Display, an external monitor that customers can use with any Mac. Apple markets the Mac Studio and Studio Display as the ideal professional Mac workspace with Apple silicon. The Studio Display with a tilt- and height-adjustable stand is delayed by around 3-4 weeks.

Other Macs in Apple's lineup remain readily available for purchase with no significant delays, other than specific configurations of the 24-inch iMac, which are listed as 3-4 weeks out.

Wow

Yeah, this chip shortage is really bad

I ordered the new MacBook Air last weekend when my state, Massachusetts, had our tax free holiday and Apple quoted me an estimated delivery timeframe between September 7-15 but Apple just charged my gift cards that I used to pay yesterday and I assume that it will ship out soon so looking forward to getting it!

I think that Apple is giving a longer quote time than it actually takes them to ship it out, it seems that they’re shipping it out much earlier than they originally quote customers

Do people really need Ultra? I have Mac Studio with M1 Max and it handles virtually everything for me....
do people really need a mac studio if they not getting the ultra, i have a m1 max 14inch and it handles virtually everything for me....

edit: forgot mbp is more expensive lmao

Refurb was the way to go for me. I got mine a month or so ago. Beast of a machine and I do need the ultra when doing work in PixInsight. Anyone who does logic intensive work will find a lot of benefit with the ultra.

Kind of pointless spending so much money and have to wait over 2 months for the high end.. it's cutting into the waiting time for the next new release
True! But not to worry, this will probably end up on an update cycle somewhere between the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro.

I ordered my M1 Max with a wait time of 6 weeks here in europe. Still I am unsure if the Studio will be updated to the M2 soon because I need that extra gpu power it will probably bring.

Yes, but some of us want a larger screen and not need a portable, so for me I went with the studio max. 👍

Have you tried to buy a new car recently? You would be crazy happy when dealership offered you a 2 month delivery.

As for the main issue - looks like a fake availability issue to pump the sales.

Just buy refurbished then. 10% off and no wait times.

I wouldn't wait 10 weeks for that. M2 Pro and M2 Max will be released by then and should run circles around the Mac Studio (except M1 Ultra).

Edit : Misread the article. It's apparently just the Ultra that has 10 weeks.
