Kind of pointless spending so much money and have to wait over 2 months for the high end.. it's cutting into the waiting time for the next new release
Exactly… I was thinking to get the Mac studio with m1 ultra/128 ram. Maybe they’ll release the max studio with m2 within 6 months🤷🏼

Well considering the M2 Pro chip isn't even out yet and most have that pegged at around 6 months at least. It is unlikely a Mac Studio with M2 Max/Ultra chips is out at the same time.

But some people are happy constantly waiting. Just know, by the time it is released -- there will be an M3 or at least news of an M3. Can wait forever or enjoy what is out there today.

If you want an Ultra Mac Studio, whatever you do don't order it from a UK Education Reseller.
20 weeks and counting!

Are people still purchasing this at full price with the M2 already in the process of replacing the M1 line?

Even for those who pay attention to rumors and such, there hasn't been any mention of an update coming to the Studio just yet-- only of the M2 Pro and M2 Max being swapped in on the 14" / 16" MacBook Pros. Those might be updated this fall; they might not. If they are, I'll be curious how long it'll be between that update and when the Studio gets M2 Max / Ultra chips.

That's what I'm curious about as well. If an M2 Max is going into the 14" & 16" next month, I can't see the Studio update being that far off...unless they wait for the Ultra chips. I'm years beyond overdue for a new machine, but don't want to get the soon-to-be EOL machine at full cost. 😂 It will be interesting to see if they just do a quiet update on the Studios. Very nice machines all around.

Yeah, the Ultra might hold that one up... I also wonder if they might hold off on updating other products just based on chip-making capacity. On the other hand... it'd be pretty weird to have one set of products on the M1 Pro / Max and the other on the M2 Pro / Max... though they're currently doing that right now with the MacBook Air and the Mac mini (not to mention the iMac). 🤔

Right! It's odd that the mini base model is still M1. I tend to feel like what you suggested...supply chain limitations.
