I have that set up and it works fine.

HDMI to DVI-D Adapter, and then a DVI-D to Mini Display Port adapter. It auto-calibrates the screen size and such. (1080)

No need for Dual-Link either, just get a cheap cable from e-Bay and a cheap adapter from anywhere.

I found a mini dp to hdmi cable on amazon with audio. It was $9 after shipping.
