Cool post bro

You shouldd go for the macbook air because my neighbor's dogs are shouting every 5 minutes *arfawrafraafowrfifuahfuaaueofaih*

IMO the specs on a puppy are way more future proofed than the air. the processor on the air will become less useful, while the energy of the puppy will increase with age. There will be less maintenance on the macbook air.

I would personally love a puppy dog. However, I would be able to get both because golden retriever puppies are like 600 and i would get a base 13 with 4g ram.

Hands down, MBA. In fact, I would buy TWO MBAs and keep one sealed in the box rather than get a puppy.

Wait.. I'd buy YOUR MBA to avoid ME getting a puppy.

Sadly, that freight train is barreling down the tunnel at me as we speak and I'm tied to the tracks. :(

Easy - get the air brand new, and rescue the puppy. Everyone's happy that way. ;-)

Very well said!

As a serious dog lover, there is nothing better you can do than to "rescue" a puppy.

Try and avoid any preconceived notions, choose one that's a match for you and your family, and you will have years of enjoyment.

I've rescued, raised and trained dogs for years, they give back far more than I give them, and I give them one heck of a lot.

Cheers.... :)

>With the Air, I can get my jollies surfing for porn on the internet, while my puppy may get his jollies on the rare occasion he decides to hump me or one of my house guests. (advantage - Air)

Yeah, but if you get sick of the porn, you can't have sex with the air. (advantage - puppy)

No contest!

Get the puppy.

The MBA will only last 2 or 3 years.

A puppy will give you much enjoyment for 18 to 20 years.

Another vote for the puppy.

I reject the popular conception that you have to get a rescue dog. I wanted a purebred dog, and feel no guilt whatsoever about it. I wanted a dog with certain traits, and I was happy to pay for it.

I think it's great if you want to get a puppy from a shelter, but I frankly feel bullied by some people with a holier-than-thou attitude about it.

Hands down...PUPPY! It's funny how they both cost the same but the puppy will give you unconditional love for 15 years. I got my MBA last week and my dog 3 years ago, and even now my doggy makes me happier than my newly arrived MBA.

What are you talking about? Nobody here had a "holier than thou attitude" at all. If you want to buy a puppy from a reputable breeder knock yourself out- nothing wrong with that. This has been a fun, good natured thread with no attitude being thrown around at all. There's a need for both breeders AND rescue organizations and I've personally been in a place in life where ive felt the need to utilize both and was glad both options were available to me. Only you can make that decision.

And you can rescue purebreds as well. I currently have a few boxers and have had great luck with my local boxer rescue organization (every state has a few). I also had great luck with a local reputable breeder recently as well. My point is having the option of how to go about getting your dog is a good thing- go whatever route fits your specific needs at that moment. Puppies, like this thread, are fun. :)

Fantastic Post

My vote is for the Puppy.

If I must I can go without my computer, even one as nice as the new MBA, for a week or so and not really miss it all too much. On the other hand, I can't go more than a day without missing my 14 year old "pup".

No comment as to the choice between the new MBA or a new spouse.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. This has been a fun thread. I mean with people out there in RL. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Great post! Funny!

I have to say that if I had to choose between my macs and my dogs, the macs are GONE! Having a good doggie who is glad to see me every day and gives me a real sense of joy is priceless. My Lion Dogs are way better than any os x lion. :)

Again, a great, witty post. (and my new MBA is on it's way from Anchorage: maybe I'll name it Max). :)

To share one of my favorite dog sentiments:

JUST A DOG

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or "that's a lot of money for just a dog."

They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent,
or the costs involved for "just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."

Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought aobut by
"just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch
of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."

"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship,
trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience
that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look
longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog"
but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future,
the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts
away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that its' not "just a dog"
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
"just a man" or "just a woman."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog,"
just smile,
because they "just don't understand."
