has anyone tried or attempted soldering new memory chips to macbook air logic board?
This is not something that looks easy at all. Probably better just to sell your Mac and buy another with enough ram.
This video goes over it.
You're better off either sending off your logic board for this RAM upgrade service or just source another logic board with 8GB RAM. I chose to source another logic board for my 2015 MBA...
You could also look for a working air with a damaged screen, keyboard, or trackpad and swap out the board. This is what I did about the weeks ago.
So are we talking about the OP having 4GB and wanting 8GB, or having 8GB/wanted 16GB ?
I would assume the OP is asking about going from 4 GB to 8 GB of ram as the air cannot support more than 8 GB. I have not seen anything to indicate that anything above 8 GB was successful.
