At this point I don’t think it’s even possible to to start a thread about the Air and not have the discussion switch to it’s cooling 😄
This conversation would be cooler if it had a heatpipe attached to it.At this point I don’t think it’s even possible to to start a thread about the Air and not have the discussion switch to it’s cooling 😄
Hey, when we did our review, we also compared it to a 2012 classic MBP 13" with SSD. Here, the 2020 MBA is definitely a significant step up: speed, portability, screen (just saying: angle of view!)!Really appreciate all the discussion here. But I wonder if we are over analyzing it too much (no disrespect to anyone). I’m looking to replace a 2011 MacBook Pro 13. Mainly because I can no longer upgrade the OS and some of the software are starting to not support the OS. This is also why eventually I stopped using my G5 many years ago as well. So overall this is still a good buy?
I ordered i5/16/256 MBA. I want to know how it performs in logic pro and Xcode performance. Please share your personal experience in this thread. I dont’t care about the thermodynamics of a computer. I just need something that can do the job. I know the intended market is light users but some of us dont’t have the budget for MBP. I will post my experience as soon as I recieve it.
Have you ever used an external monitor? My 2020 MBA i7/16/512 has been used a lot since I got it on Thursday morning. After the initial setup, iCloud sync, and indexing, it’s been quiet and cool even under relatively heavy load (3D modeling, Chrome with 10 tabs, Photos enhancements, etc).

Have had my i7 since Friday afternoon. Like others have said, it runs too damn hot. Im browsing literally just this site right now in safari and the temp is freaking 75 degrees, the fan never ***** off. Im giving it another day or two otherwise I'm returning. This is unacceptable.

Right, because the keyboard wasn't flawed. And proper cooling is not needed.

Weird when compared to the review from cygy2k.
yeah i did believe you 😄 Just want to connect/compare the two reviews.
75 is definitive too high for just one safari tab, but at least fan ist at minimum speed.
I received my new MacBook Air last week (i5-model) and am generally very happy with it. I have however noticed a squeaky noise from the keyboard. I've tried to localise it more exactly but it seems pretty random and might even be from the coating of the keys, rather than the mechanics. Either way, it's super irritating now that I've started noticing it, and I'll most likely try to get a new machine (which, admittedly, might take a while during these times).
Anyone else experience a squeaky keyboard on their new MBAs?
I feel like Apple probably didn’t need to include an i7 model.
Difference between your experience and this experience is about indexing. As I can see from your screenshot, your CPU is working at 17-18%. And my old 2012 mbp is working only at 4% usage with 10 Safari Tabs(1 video in the tab).Have had my i7 since Friday afternoon. Like others have said, it runs too damn hot. Great advice....let it sit on the table while turned on, even if your are not using it. Just give it a time to finish its' own job. Once it finishes, you will be good to go.
