hi Replacing the battery is the solution; given that youve discovered the smell of acid; it can be that the female battery has failed working! So you simply have to replace the battery with a new Mac battery!

I think its beyond that at this point, given the fatal exceptions I keep encountering when I get the machine to begin booting up, but I believe the battery is the source of my problems.
[doublepost=1474219230][/doublepost]I just noticed another anomaly. I don't know why I didn't note this before, but it seems that the 45w adapter that came with it doesn't get it to boot, but when I use my 6ow from my 13" pro, it boots up. Whats that about?

Note: I've confirmed that the 45w adaptor does work by using it to charge my cousin's MBA, which is the exact same model.

I have the same MacBook Air as you, same year. My battery is @ 82% of original factory and still going strong. I'd buy a new battery then have your Air checked out at the same time to see if there is actually other issues that can be fixed. Good luck! Bought my Air on 10 July 2013.

Take it too Louis and let him diagnose it. Heck ask him to video the diagnoses
