Can I just say, 3 thunderbolt ports is so weird.

We know the M4 can support 4 TB 4 ports. I say throw 4 on there!

An extra port on the right side would be great, and so would the nano texture option.

I hope they at least follow the iMac approach - add cpu cores, the extra port and nano option for the higher “trims”. Base model can be a 8/8 16gb 256gb M4 with 2 ports and everything else the same as the M3 Air.

Then if you want to spend $1499 you can get the 10 core M4 variant, a third port and also add on nano texture for $150 extra. Spend an extra $200 for 512gb storage and so on.

I would be tempted if they get the anti glare display option. I have an m2 MBP 14 I love, but considering I just the mini pro and 99% of the time am behind a giant 32 inch display, I wouldn't hate smaller/lighter for my portable for coffee shop work/travel, especially when my trade in value is still not terrible.

M4 is 8 months old! Apple is doing a good job of managing the expectation of its users. If only they'd introduce an 11" Air.

It seems so many people essentially want this to be a MacBook Pro. If you want a MacBook Pro, then buy a MacBook Pro.

It's straightforward to add a 120Hz screen to the Macbook Air, even for the same price. Old technology. But the natural law of product differentation to maximize profits prevents it.

My 2020 M1 MBA is still a stunner, but the two ports for everything annoys. MBA 15 w 3 TB4 ports AND MagSafe? I'm ALL IN. I'll miss the classic wedge shape, but time to move on I guess.

P.S. I WILL pay extra for nano-texture too!

Not really. To get a good quality Retina screen at 120 Hz isn't necessarily a trivial price upgrade. Yes, Apple wants to maximize profits, but this is an area where it actually makes sense. The majority of people in this product category really couldn't give a chit about 120 Hz, so it doesn't make much sense to spend the extra money to provide that feature. Hell, I have several ProMotion devices, and I'm a MacRumors geek, and even I don't care about ProMotion. However, if you want ProMotion, you can get it already, in the form of the MacBook Pro.

I'm actually super pumped about this. Have the 2022 MBA with M2 and works great. However, I wish it had one extra USB-C port on the right side, and could support two external displays. I have two external displays from work. My work laptop (Dell) can support two displays but when I plug in my MBA, only one display works. I don't need the power of a MBP, but I like having two external displays to work off. I'm getting older and my eye sight isn't like it used to be!

“The latest MacBook Pro and iMac models can be configured with a nano-texture display, which has a special coating that better scatters light to further minimize glare on the screen.”

In a nano-texture display, the surface has been altered with tiny (nano) etchings. There is no coating.

soon as they add a oled display like the m4 ipads im trading in both my m4 ipad and m1 macbook pro 16inch for a swap asap.

They’re probably gonna swap the headphone jack for that third usbc port and call it courage…
I wish they had done that for my 12" MacBook. It was very irritating trying to use it with just one 1 USB-C port.

You can change a USB port into a headphone jack but you can't change a headphone jack into a USB port (iPod shuffle notwithstanding).

Precisely, it would be a good move.

Ok so here is the concept : we take the m1 macbook air and we remove him one port, we also put the screen size to 12 inches, we add the m4 chip and 16gb of ram on the base model and boom we have your macbook !! Same price as the actual macbook air m1 in walmart !

So when the M4 MBA is released, what happens to the current entry level 13” M2 MBA?
Does it remain in the Apple Store?
Is it replaced with an M3?
Is it replaced with an 8-core M4?
