I would say that if portability is an issue for you then go with the MBA. If you do anything that even remotely requires some computing power, MBP.

While I can't dispute the MBA's "cool" factor, for my use it would be pretty worthless (video editing.) If all you're doing is surfing and word processing, then do it.

go with the macbook - i love mine and you won't go broke: the only thing that i can see that is bad with it is that it won't burn DVD's
:apple::D:apple::D:apple:
enjoy whatever you get

go with a macbook as well.. best value for your money...
go MBP if you really really really need the bigger screen and the video card.. otherwise, you can use the macbook in almost every application you're planning to do on an MBP

Get air if all your tasks are going to be browsing, email and other light activities...I think it suits perfectly for your needs...

lol... People act like the MBA is an asuseee with a 900 mhz centrino processor. A 1.6 or 1.8 core 2 duo isn't all that shabby - in fact, it's about as powerful as powermac G5 processors from a few years ago. I don't think anyone thought you could only use dual G5s for browsing, email, and the like. :rolleyes: It's also as (or more) powerful as my core duo macbook at 2 ghz, and I use that for everything.

I agree. Its still a Core 2 Duo so the chip is not even that old. The processing power will be more than good enough to do semi-intensive calculations. Of course you won't be able to edit movies or play games but thats not what the OP said he will be doing. OP, if most of your work that you do does not require a lot of graphics power, then the MBA sounds like it really fits your needs. Go for it!!
