Maybe because it just came out today?Wow. I was just on the phone with Applecare for overheating/fan issues and wonder why they didn't mention this?!
Yeah, same here. I assume this is correct since it actually mentions "Update". If it was some earlier version of the firmware, it wouldn't say that."Your computer's SMC firmware is up-to-date with version 1.0 of the MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update."
=\?

Not sure what you mean by that. I ordered about one hour after the MBA was announced.I'm guessing our MBA's weren't exactly "first batch"
Ya'll could check the week number part of your serial number and see exactly which batches you were in?
I'm not sure if this follows suit, but when the MacBooks and MacBook Pros were having issues, the 3rd digit of the serial number = the manufacturing year and the 4th/5th digits = manufacturing week. How might one do that, exactly?
updated, now fan runs much louder. Before update I barly ever noticed the fan, now it is very loud.
This is hilarious... I just dropped my MBA off at FedEx since Apple offered to replace it for me because of overheating issues (would freeze for ten seconds, unfreeze for ten seconds, etc). Now I get home and find that there is a firmware update which may have solved my problem. Just my luck!
I downloaded this on my Air and tried to run it, it said my Air was already updated with the SMC Firmware version 1.0
So some just don't need it?
