Hi I have this new MacBook Air
MacOs.High Sierra
MacBook Air 13ins 2017
Processor 1.8GHz Intel core i5
Memory 8GB 1600MHzDD3
Graphics Intel HDGraphics 6001536mb

Now my question is I decided to check the wifi speed on this MacBook did various tests and the results were 24.59 second 22.66Mbps
Same test on iPad same times and same place distance from router results was 35.8 second test 36.4.
My provider is EE and have fibre installed top speed is 38Mbps.
Why is my MacBook showing so low wifi than the iPad also did test on iPhone and that result was 34/36.
Any help why this is Please.
Many thanks. David.

my 2012 MacBook Air on a plusnet business broadband I get 6.1Mbps according to fast.com

I'm in SW tip of cornwall.

You may be able to speed up the 2012 MBA wifi speeds by swapping the wi-fi card or using a USB dongle.

It's the connection as get 18Mbps at home which is what my home broadband provider quoted me upto.

I don't think my air has an issue, but thanks anyway

I will upgrade at some point but as I get near to buy a newer model a bill pops up or my car breaks.

this air is solid and is serving me well for work at moment though.

I got my first MacBook Pro because I had some Apple gift cards to use. After that, I started looking into the hardware side of things. My introduction to the Air was a mid-2013 unit I purchased where the seller said it would just shut off on its own. He said there was no liquid damage but I didn't quite believe him. I bought it anyway because of the low price, had it fixed by a local repair shop, and it's been working perfectly for months with my sister-in-law. After that, I found an early 2015 for a cheap price which I fixed and sold to friend at cost. The Air I am using now is another early 2015 that was liquid damaged and purchased by me for a low price. Fixing it was not cheap but I saved around $700 CAD.

I paid around £300 for this 2012 air.
it only 64GB/4GB/1.7GHz 11.6" model

I bought it coz my 2010 MacBook died on me.
And I needed a machine for work.

I want a 2012-2015 macbook pro 13" but here in uk £400 plus at moment.

Kinda going off topic now lol.

my 2012 air has only a/b/g/n.
did newer models get ac wifi?
