I upgraded my new unibody 2.0 to 4gb from OWC with no problems. Search the forum and it's been talked about a lot.

OS: 10.5.6 + all firmware updates

I did do a complete reinstall of the system though. I was noticing a lot of instability/freezes when I used it straight from the box as well, even with 2GB.

Reinstall OSX and everything's been fine.

I will do a reinstall, I need to put a bigger drive in it anyways, but I am current with all my firmware. I guess that when I install linux on another partition, I'll probably run a memtest, and then see how linux behaves for a few days. Hopefully, it's not a hardware issue.

2.4GHz 4G Crucial 10.5.6 + all patches / FW updates. Not a single freeze since the FW updates and 10.5.6 (not sure which seemed to fix the issue for me). Been using this for months without a freeze.

I've been having the same issues with mine for the past two months.

I have 4GB of Kingston in my macbook aluminum, and it freezes all the time -- it's up to something like 5 times a day now. It happens even with the original 2GB installed. I've tested the ram and it passes, fresh installs of os x don't help, nothing gets left in any logs, so I'm not really sure what it could be at this point.

I'm going to have Apple replace it, it's to the point where it's not operational anymore.

Well I'm hoping I don't run into these issues. Just ordered OWC 4GB ram and will install first thing and will test it out and see before sending back the 2GB sticks for rebate. I can always do a system reinstall if necessary as well.

Apple Unibody-DDR3 ram-4 gig

Ive been having some hard freezes with my mbp unibody . Been thinking it was software issues until I put the original 2 gigs of
ram back in and the freezing stopped ,2 weeks so far ! Watch out for that
patriot brand .

mine isnt freezing but since i upgraded to kingston 4gb ram my beachball comes on far too often and sometimes just freezes programs especially microsoft word

I came here to get some help in regards to my MB Aluminum starting to freeze and I see this thread, however I am working on a standard out of the box MB with no upgrades to RAM. However, what I find strange is that the freezing just started happening over the last week or so and I've had the computer since Christmas. I know that MBs arent really susceptible to viruses, but I was also wondering about spyware as this is the way my PC got when I had spyware/malware.
Seems strange to me that it wouldnt start happening until 2 months after purchase. With the exception of doing a reinstall, is there anything else we can try?

i honestly find this thread unbelievable. not for a second unless i see for myself there is something wrong with it, and even if its true, you either do have bad ram or a really bad macbook or a crippled OS in either case go see apple!
