do you guys think apple will ever put thunderbolt 3 onto MacBook? or why is apple NOT doing this?
I'm very satisfied with what MacBook provides, performance, and portability. the only thing is I need to connect to large displays AND external storage at the same time, so a thunderbolt setup seems necessary.. right now I'm forced to go with the MacBook Pro since it has a thunderbolt 3 port for the LG 5k display...
the 13-in MacBook Pro is ok on portability and certainly much faster than the MacBook, but I would appreciate an option to use my MacBook with the 5k display..

Beyond just TB3 support, to my understanding the heat generated is also an issue. I don't think the MacBook's GPU could handle driving that many pixels. My MB is not a happy camper with 4k60hz and this alone pushes it towards its upper thermal envelope, even with very light activity.

I was waiting for this too, but reading EugW's thread I guess I'll just buy in 2018 rather than wait until 2020.
