Gets a +1 from me too this profile. I'm using 9C89 but my wife and I agree this looks the best when going through our photos.
Thanks a bunch.

I returned a defective unibody MBP, and the screen on that machine was considerably better than this one. I'm actually a little worried - I expected some difference in quality, but this one is substantial. Hopefully it's just a calibration problem, but apparently, no MBs have the 9C8A...?
I just got my MB 2.0 today and I checked my monitor and saw that I had 9C8B, and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere? Which calibration should I use?
Btw I'm a first time mac user. Breaking new ground.![]()
Just try out a few of them and see whatever works for you personally.
I tried the posted profiles that people liked, but they all looked craptacular IMO! So did my on calibration using the built in tool in OS X and got it how I wanted it. Happy camper!![]()
Yes, I checked the links. I've got the new (I think?) 9C8B screen.
When I e.g used the "JC Display" the screen got extremely red and I could only distinguish about 3 black/white boxes in the test. With mine own I could see all but the last 2. I swapped between them with the test site visible, to easily see the difference.
The same thing happened to me, but then i found ONE that was better than the other ones.. Spyder Pro. I dont know how made it, but i's a champ. IMO best one so far.
Post your profile. Let's see how it compares to some of the other ones.
I made a color profile that people seem to like.. if you wanna try it out, let me know..

Post it. Let's give it a try.
But so far, out of the 20+ that i've tried, not even one has come close...
I got my MB today, love it! It has 9c8b panel. I have a spyder and will try to calibrate the display this weekend. Is native whitepoint good? I can upload the profile later.
You'll want 2.2 Gamma, Native white point and the screen at maximum brightness in a dark room. Be sure to disable all the screen dimming options in Energy Saver beforehand as well, especially the "automatically reduce the brightness before display sleep" option.
I uploaded a zip file containing 2 profiles, one for native and one for 6500K. I found the brightness doesn't change the result. I also tried 50% brightness, no color difference.
Which Spyder are these from? Also, the backlight intensity won't affect color but it will affect how the Spyder sets white and black points. With my LG panel for example, if I don't calibrate at max brightness the resulting profile ends up crushing blacks in the lagom black level test.
I use Spyder Pro, actually during calibration, brightness is required to reduce to minimum level, since too bright, you'll lose black.
That is actually incorrect. The Spyder software itself states to put the backlight (different than "brightness', the Macbook has no "brightness" control) on maximum (as long as maximum isn't crushing white level). What matters to the Spyder is seeing the full dynamic range of the screen, which it cannot do if you have the backlight trimmed way back.
You mean it is backlight, not brightness control button on Macbook?
Correct. You are really controlling the backlight with F1 and F2.
And just as an aside, the terms "brightness" and "contrast" are misused most of the time, especially on pretty much every TV and desktop LCD out there... "Brightness" is really "black level" and "contrast" is really "white level".
