If you want a MacBook Neo from Apple for Wednesday, March 11 delivery, but have yet to place an order, you might be out of luck.

MacBook Neo pre-orders began March 4, and the initial delivery date was March 11. But now, Apple's online store in the U.S. shows that MacBook Neo orders placed today are estimated to be delivered between March 17 and March 31.

Here are the estimated delivery dates for each configuration as of 5:45 p.m. Eastern Time:
  • 256GB/Blush: March 24 — March 31
  • 256GB/Citrus: March 17 — March 24
  • 256GB/Indigo: March 17 — March 24
  • 256GB/Silver: March 24 — March 31
  • 512GB/Blush: March 24 — March 31
  • 512GB/Citrus: March 24 — March 31
  • 512GB/Indigo: March 24 — March 31
  • 512GB/Silver: March 17 — March 24
Fortunately, Apple Store pickup is still an option for some configurations on launch day. MacBook Neo is also sold by resellers like Amazon and Walmart.

Without knowing how much supply there is for each configuration, it is hard to draw any conclusions from the delivery dates listed above, but it is clear that it is getting harder and harder to find a MacBook Neo for launch day. Given the laptop starts at just $599, or an even lower $499 for college students, that should not come as too much of a surprise.

Several commenters here stated that the demand for the Neo would be low.

Many of us here are not the target customer for this product and that’s perfectly fine. The problem comes when these critics then attempt to conflate their own personal preferences as somehow being representative of Apple’s user base, or that Apple’s somehow doomed just because their specific demands are not being catered to.

A lot of the discussion here would benefit from people taking off their consumer hats and putting on their analyst hats and acknowledging how Apple is growing their addressable market in both a timely and significant manner.

256/Silver will get a big boost in demand as soon as school districts start making bulk purchases. Considering that most school districts run on a July 1 - June 30 fiscal year, summer should see increased demand for the delightfully generic silver model, as they're not going to want to see students competing for (or getting jealous over) particular favorite colors.

Of course, as others have said, the current delivery times say very little about current demand, as we simply don't know the color breakdown of the initial production run.

If I'm an eccentric Apple-friendly oligarch with a sizable staff and I'm looking to maximize productivity, mass-deploying MacBook Neos is an absolute no-brainer.

very true, but "hating Apple" is/seems much more rewarding and gets lots of clicks ... quite bizarre

I have no desire to be a beta tester for a new Apple design 🙂.
Isn’t this kind of the opposite of a beta tested new design?
Chips from two years ago’s iPhone, the display and side firing speakers from the old 13 inch iPads, the camera from the M2 and M3 MacBook Air, the same keyboard mechanism that’s been on every Mac released since October 2019, the trackpad from the iPad’s magic keyboard.
Literally the only thing that’s “new” is the the manufacturing process of the aluminum, something a consumer would never be able to notice.

Super good move by Apple to have a regular MacBook again. A literal no brainer especially for cost conscious/budget friendly Students ($499 is a steal for a very capable macOS machine).

Very happy for new students and people just getting into the Apple ecosystem.

I would buy these for family members who don't do high end work tbh, easily.
