Apple's MacBook Neo has recently been struck by delayed delivery estimates on Apple.com, due to the notebook's booming popularity. However, both Walmart and Amazon offer deliveries as soon as tomorrow, and even feature small discounts on the Neo.

Following its launch in March, the MacBook Neo has become a big hit for Apple, with the company struggling to keep the computer in stock online and in Apple stores. As of writing, Apple.com quotes a 2-3 week delivery estimate on every model of the Neo in the U.S. and many other countries.

If you want to prioritize saving a bit of money, Amazon has every model of the MacBook Neo for $9 off this week. Free delivery options place the Neo arriving as soon as May 2, while Prime members can get same-day shipping on the 256GB models in many locations.

Over at Walmart, you won't find any discounts, but you will find similarly quick delivery estimates. Select locations should see delivery estimates as soon as April 28 through April 29 on every model of the MacBook Neo. If you have Walmart+ instead of Amazon Prime, this could be a better option despite the lack of a straight cash discount.

The MacBook Neo is Apple's low-cost Mac, priced at $599 for the 256GB model and $699 for the 512GB model with Touch ID. Students can get the computer for even cheaper at $499 through Apple's education store on its website.

If you're shopping for the new M5 MacBook Air, Amazon is currently hosting big $150 discounts on nearly every model. Prices now start at $949.99 for the 512GB 13-inch model.

Wife's Neo (ordered April 8) finally "Shipped" yesterday (April 26) with a delivery date of April 28. Shipping via FedEx from warehouse in Lebanon, TN instead of Asia. So it seems they are manufacturing these in bulk and shipping them to the U.S. before being assigned to orders. Only two SKU's for this product, so that could be an explanation for it.

I ordered a MacBook Pro (M5 Pro) around the same time and it came from Vietnam (the more-traditional Mac shipping route)

I feel like the "Neo Effect" is only just beginning. I was at BBY mid-week a few days ago and they were completely sold out except for one open box and a sealed box that they were holding for someone that didn't pick it up the day before (I'm guessing online purchase). Anyway, the sales rep said they were sold out completely and will be for some time. They had an  rep there and they said it's been "brutal" the last few days.

Meanwhile, a casual mid-week glance at the WinTel/PC section, and the Chromebook and Lenovo reps looked bored.

Lots of people buy stuff from Walmart. They have a great return policy.
Plenty of people. That have near 65% of the US grocery market alone.

Only thing I regularly buy there is motor oil.
A massive chunk of the USA.

From Wikipedia:

Walmart is the world's largest company by revenue and the largest private employer in the world, with 2.1 million employees. The company is ranked one in Fortune 500 and Fortune Global 500. In February 2026, Walmart became the first traditional retailer to be valued at over $1 trillion.
I mean Apple products at walmart

Pretty sure Apple is struggling with stock because their sales are dominated with educational discounts that the retailers cant offer.
In Germany, Amazon and other shops have the MacBook Neo in stock for less than Apple's education pricing.

Always better to buy at Apple Store !

The Apple store in inconvenient for a lot of people and they never have sales. It's a two hour round-trip drive for me, if there is no traffic.

Best numbers I've seen is about 40% of customers buy their Mac directly from Apple, and for the iPhone, about 20-25%. I bought my 3g and 4 from Wal-Mart, though it was through AT&T.

Even in the UK, you’re looking at a three to four-week wait for all colours and capacities. Apple really underestimated the sales on this one.

Just makes a new Neo Apple with new chip and everything upgrade with same price
They could, but then that product would not only come out way ahead of schedule, it would annoy the hell out of all of the existing buyers. It would be a PR nightmare.

The biggest issue with Apple stores is they are like herding cattle. There is no structure to the stores at all.

Not necessarily. There are definite advantages to buying at the Apple Store. But better deals are often available elsewhere and one can still buy two- and three-year fixed-length AppleCare products (depending on device being purchased) at some non-Apple retailers (including Amazon).
