Hello, i don't know if you remember but I had exactly the same problem last year and we talked about it in another post (I had the 2019 model as well) I just bought the 2020 model for the new keyboard and something weird happened, my battery capacity was 5200 mAh, I did few run on Cinebench and FCC didn't drop at all, and I did a test on Geekbench and it seems that I screwed up my battery capacity because now on Cinebench or Geekbench the FCC drop to 4800 mAh and get back to 5030 at the end of test I only have 4 cycle I just bought it 3 days ago
All in all sounds like very much the same as I've seen with my 2019. It just seems to me that battery is simply weak and takes huge dive under load. Also as I mentioned my operating times while actually using it are very poor and that 10 hours per charge I never reach even close. I have noticed that battery health / max. capacity vary, so I think it is related to that.

By the way, how you like 2020 model compared to 2019? I've been considering whether I should get that but since the basic model is the same as 2019 with just different keyboard, I'm not sure there is any point for that, and I actually have no real use for the MBP anyway. Is the keyboard noticeable better?
No keys getting stuck or keypress not registering always? Mine have had stuck key always, but it just seem like some particle got under the key or perhaps it is even heat related as it looks a bit like hole where the key comes thru is somewhat tight sometimes. Always got the stuck key working again by just hitting the key repeatedly, so nothing serious and it happens only rarely. I was wondering is the keyboard much more silent compared to 2019? I find mine a bit too clicky for my taste.

honestly keep your MBP 2019 I regret changing mine the keyboard is not as good as apple advertise I prefer the butterfly keyboard and its not silent I find it louder than the lastgen butterfly keyboard, the battery life is crap too 3 and half hour with a energy consumption that I can't understand I did a clean install just be sure but there is definitely something wrong with my computer it consume 12 to 18 watt doing nothing Im still in the 15 days window so I will see how he act in the next couple of days if nothing change I think I'll get a new one, and maybe the 2019 model for 200 euro less

Thanks for your comment. Because I already tried one 2020 model at the local shop while passing by Apple products there and I briefly tried to listen to what keyboard sounds like but it was hard to say for sure in noisy environment like shop, but even then I felt like it was not silent compared to 2019. I guess the keyboard is definitely not the reason for update for me, especially considering the current 2019 has 4 year warranty for the keyboard and it comes with the new battery too usually which is a nice bonus.

Sounds very similar to my 2019. It basically sucks the battery dry in few hours with very light tasks. Like when I'm just surfing (using Safari) and I have just couple of tabs open and in one of them I have YouTube playing music to my AirPods (with display only max - 6 clicks, well under Apple specifications for battery testing), I basically get around 4 hours (or a little more if I use it right after I charged it in one use) until battery around 1/3 left. That is so far from 10 hours (even I run it empty it would be just about 6 hours or so) and I don't see that kind of use should be very demanding as how I use it???

Looks like I forget about 2020 as I have very little use for the MBP anyway.

Honnestly i tought about the fact that iam loosing the 4 year program with this update and I regret it now I just wanted to have a new computer since I had some extra cash but my decision was stupid and now I hesitate to return it to the store and get the 2019 one I don’t know my local store don’t even have it anymore the last one was sold yesteray so I guess iam stuck with mine they don’t give money back they only offer exchange

Hello,

I noticed that my MacBook Pro 2020 charge the battery very slowly, at first it was charging at 50w when plugged to the original charger and with 30w when plugged to my external monitor with usb-c cable (lg monitor that have DP and power supply with a single usb-c belkin cable).

then I started to notice fluctuation in the Full charge capacity with 3 cycle it came down to 4800 mAH FOR a design capacity of 5103 mAH.

i plugged and plugged the cable a lot more than 10 times because each time the FCC changed, it also changes under high load (Cinebench for example) make it go down to 4500 mAh.
one day later I was using safari and noticed that the MacBook was actually discharging while plugged to the power supply and a message stated in French ( la battery en se recharge pas) (the battery is not charging) I did a few restart tried to clean the port did a SMC reset and now it seems fine except that I only get a max of 25 watt of charging power.

did I screwed my connector or something ?
iam still in the 15 day window should I go back the store and change it ?

maybe the charging power start to decrease when its over 80% ?
please what's your battery temperature mine is 37 degree doing nothing and being unplugged when plugged is more Than 39 degree

There is this battery management thing in the latest MacOS to prolong battery life. It is likely causing the issue you see with discharging while plugged in. Have you tried turning it off? I think it should allow you to charge it fully and see where FCC lands while letting it charge few hours after it shows 100%.
I turned off that feature right away, since I would prefer setting myself limit for the max charge level instead of this vague automatic thing it is doing.

Also mine is changing FCC about each time I plug in charger and I see battery temp depending on room temp getting to those numbers you mention in light use.

please can you tell the charging speed of your MacBook when doing nothing and plugged to the original apple charger ? mine Is now 30watt max yesterday I saw it charging at 50watt can you test and tell me on conocut
