Lol, your using your 17" as a desktop so its like you have a desktop and a laptop.

I guess some people like to waste money... "Woo, I got 2 Macbook Pro's, one to lug with me and one I use on my desk." Seriously, how stupid does that sound?

If I were you, I'd just sell the 17" and with the money you'll get from it + the money you are saving now for your 13" I'd buy a high-end 15".

It doesn't sound stupid at all. He is using the 17 as a desktop replacement...lot's of people do that. If I had the money I would have a 17 on the desk and an Air for travel. You sound jealous.

Thank you very much.

I spoke to Apple. Next week I'm ordering. You should have heard him Final Cut Pro is very graphics orientated and you need a pro highend card and hes like if you take a look at the 15" Highend model then I was like yea I already have a 17" Pro but I need something that can be carried.

I agree. Why don't you sell the 17 and buy a 15" high end? Then buy an external monitor for the desktop. Easy to travel with and with an external monitor its a great desktop replacement. Only thing you miss out going from the 15 from the 17 is an express card reader.

Just my opinion and your money. But keeping stuff synced between my mac pro and mbp can be a pain sometimes, even with mobile me and a time capsule.

I was thinking of investing in drop box. Yayy or nah. Can drop box accept aliases like instead of dragging 90gb just drag an alias. Thanks lol

The guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Final Cut Pro does not heavily utilize the graphics card. Motion and Colour do, but video editing does not require high-end graphics.

Fine catch a flight to ireland. Come over to me and give me a hand carrying it when i want to go somewhere;)

why not sell it? as suggested and get the 15 inch?

im not jealous at all, i just dont see the reasoning

1) sucks to keep them synched
2) you sound fairly young and as such, why "waste" money on gadgets? i learned the hard way as they dont hold value whereas saving and not buying "wants" is a significant cost savings
3) id sell it and get the mbp at a great discount

just my thoughts but if you get a laptop and end up having 2, you might realize at some point that "dang i dont really need 2 computers, esp 2 laptops" and "man i wish i had that 1500 dollars back" lol

my 2 cent though

Doing it his way he has two computers in case one has issues. Redundancy is good.

yea but within reason....like i wouldnt use redundancy as a main reason to get 2 cars for example

but what do i care, the global economy needs all the help it can get!

I can't sell the 17" and without making me sound like every other 13 and a half year old on the forum I can use one of them converting my 720p files to Apple intimatidating codec from Mpeg4 and the other to do on the fly editing. Decided that I'll just stick with the plan of getting the 2.26GHz I was reading the forums and they said if it takes like 1 hour to encode a video on 2.26GHz it would take 52 Minutes to encode it on a 2.53GHz and that 7 minutes wouldn't be precious. I think I'll ditch the 2.53GHz and just stick with the 2.26GHz and oh I save 70 Euro on a printer so I can get a printer for €10. I think the reason I was going like that was the fact on my 17" pro on the road which was sore it only got up to 2 hours when editing but then forgetting if that gets 4.5 hours and the 13 gets 7. I should get at least 3.5Hours of editing or even more because the 9400M is less of a drop kick.

alright

is cost a concern at all? if so, id really look at the mb as well over the 13 mbp

only a few "limitations" such as a max of 4 gig ram not 8 and led kb i think but you do save a couple hundred

Yea. My sister got the penryn 14 days before they made whats called MacBook Special Edition Al and while it was a lot more durable I felt I'd miss things like the backlit keyboard, Firewire 800 (Which means during migration assistant It wont be sore) and the SD Card slot for my Canon Rebel XSi but thank you very much for the suggestion I had indeed that in my mind but my mum was like "yea no the 13 Pro is a lot more prettier and look at those curves and it's a little lighter"

No black friday in ireland but on macrumors it said something about the arrendale chip or something. I'll wait till jan to buy it. They better be right or could that CPU come with a host of problems or do you think it's nothing major over the 2.26GHz Processor already and reading online some people said only the low end ULV are coming the first half of 2010

I decided by myself to stick with getting it the coming friday. Why?

1: Core i3 might be a heat risk
2: Come with a host of problems like when apple first made the MacBook Pro

and the best one

3: If apple comes out with a new case design in late 2011 and I buy mine now near christmas I can save another 1500 Or so and get the new design along with the new CPU rather than buying in Half of 2010

I know i said this in a few earlier posts but since were parting with money should I get the 2.26GHz with 4GB of mem and a 500GB HDD or the 2.53GHz with 4GB of Mem and 500GB as getting the 2.53 will be a harder task so like would i notice a slowness compared to my 17" pro with 2.5GHz with 2GB or will the 4GB of the 13" Makeup for it;)
