I've waited so long for my order from Apple and it is still processing. Shall I cancel and wait even longer for Best Buy to ship? 😰

Also, keep your eye on Amazon. They matched these BestBuy prices and they keep going in and out of stock delivering next week.

Thanks Noobinator! I'm in the return window for my 10th Gen. Going to get the difference. Enjoy the 10th Gen! Not many know this but it has 50% faster Wifi than the 2 port model.

Seeing July ship date on Amazon unfortunately. Do you know if Best Buy has restocking fees? I checked their return policy and looks like I'd have 14 days.

Interesting didn't know about this, how come the 2 port model is so much slower?

Boom, just got off the phone with Best Buy to get $216 back.

The 2 port model only have 2x2 wifi so only 2 streams like the air and older non-touch bar pros. The 4 port is 3x3, max transmission rate 1300 instead of 867. This is good when you can't get a good signal so you have an extra stream getting you a 50% boost.

I'm not seeing this in the technical breakdown, can you link the article or webpage?

One thing I noticed is at Best Buy that only the Space Gray is on sale. If you select Silver the cost goes back up to $1799.

Bhphoto has it on sale now too. Got 150 back from my previous purchase coming tomorrow.
Nice. If you get the PayBoo card you also get a rebate on the sales tax. This is basically Apple Refurb prices if sales tax is 5% or more.

I'm keeping my base model with 16gb of ram, but if I were ordering now, I would definitely move up, especially considering apple now charges $200 for a ram upgrade on the base model.

I did perform a bunch of non-scientific tests using iPerf3 and a few routers and concluded that the wifi performance of the 4-port model was only about 10% faster than the 2-port model.

It is a theoretical max which may not reflect an actual set up. To achieve max throughput the Access points must be set to 5G, support 3x3 MIMO, be set to 80Mhz channel width, and you need to have the mac close to the Access Point. And of course, if you are going out to internet the connection must consistently support the data rate.

Great price for the base model, really undercuts the MacBook Air.

$1099.99 undercuts $949.99?

How so?

This is last year's model with butterfly keyboard. The base MacBook Air with i5 processor upgrade is $1099. Then you might as well get the MacBook Pro on sale.

My error, thanks.

$1049 @ Costco - https://www.costco.com/new-apple-ma...256gb-ssd---space-gray.product.100654806.html

Price differential effectively removed for now it comes down to what features are important to an individual. Touchbar vs fn keys / wedge vs front lip / lower power CPU vs higher power CPU (and the pros and cons each entails).

If the money is the same I would pick the MacBook Pro over the Air every time. Better cooling system for less thermal throttling and more performance.

Agree, always comes down to the users needs and what they want in a laptop. Though, for people that were debating over getting the Air or forking over extra for the Pro, it's essentially decided now, as they are the same price.
