If they would ditch the bezel, I'd be all over it. I already have a 13" that works just fine. If I'm going to uprgade, I'm going to upgrade!
 
The Air and Pro have some differences that some prefer one over the other outside of raw specs or performance so debating which is better, or a better deal isn't going to do anything since it's entirely subjective.

If the money is the same I would pick the MacBook Pro over the Air every time. Better cooling system for less thermal throttling and more performance.

If more performance is the driving factor, then yes that would be the route to go.

Not every MBA buyer is buying it for performance -- or for cost -- and thus my comment about personal preference related to the other differences.

Exactly. Better is essentially shorthand for fitment to one's preferences/needs/budget -- and since those all very between each of us, which is "better" will vary from person to person.

It is a theoretical max which may not reflect an actual set up. To achieve max throughput the Access points must be set to 5G, support 3x3 MIMO, be set to 80Mhz channel width, and you need to have the mac close to the Access Point. And of course, if you are going out to internet the connection must consistently support the data rate.
Yes, I incorporated all of these requirements within my testing.
 
One thing I noticed is at Best Buy that only the Space Gray is on sale. If you select Silver the cost goes back up to $1799.

If you use the link from the OP, you can get the silver model at 1599 through there. I noticed going through the site from home page does just change price to 1799.

Unfortunately I cannot cancel my order for the space gray model. I was hoping to get it in silver to avoid confusion with my Space Gray 16" when looking from across the room.

Best Buy has an amazing return policy, just order the silver as well and return the SG when you get it.... dont settle. I used to be a space grey guy, but the silver is iconic.

So I just had a weird thing happen...I decided to order the base model Pro last night. I paid the premium for UPS next day air shipping with a delivery date of 6/4.

I received a notification from both Best Buy and UPS this morning that my order had shipped...however about two hours ago I got an email from Best Buy stating that UPS was returning my order back to them...I checked my tracking number through UPS and it stated there was a service disruption and the package was being returned to sender. Anyone ever run into this with Best Buy before?

I’m assuming something happened with Best Buy’s stock and they couldn’t fulfill the order or is this on UPS? Hoping the package didn’t get lost somewhere as I’ve been charged. Decided to immediately place another order for the same model so I don’t miss out on the price and now it’s stating it’ll ship by 6/10. So we’ll see what happens I guess.

Haven’t had that happen but two packages that were suppose to arrive Monday weren’t delivered until today. I’ve never had an issue with ups but I assume most delays now are because of the pandemic situation.

Yeah I’ve never had an issue like this either and I’ve placed several orders with UPS as the deliverer over the past few months.

Looking on their Twitter it looks like they are having some outages at their worldport in Louisville. The protesting may be creating some issues too. I just wonder why they’d automatically return to Best Buy and completely cancel the delivery.

Hmmm, I was just getting ready to order an item from BB (MT2) to deliver by Saturday. If there are service disruptions, I guess I’ll pay the difference and pick it up at the store instead. BB shipping is finicky enough on the best of days. Makes me think, I already have an LG monitor on order that I should have by Saturday. That’s from Amazon, but you never know how an Amazon order is delivering until you get the shipping notice.
 
Mine shows shipped! I did free shipping which is Fedex ground. The unit left a warehouse in Conklin, NY at midnight. It passed through the FEDEX location at Northhampton, PA this AM. Tracking shows June 10th delivery.

I hope the delivery goes smoothly for you! Mine still hasn't shipped and your tracking suggests it's gonna be another 7 day wait after it ships for me. Kinda wish I tried price matching at Apple instead of ordering from Best Buy. :(

By the way, when did you order? I did it Monday morning when the sale started too.

They match up to 10% but you have to call them to do it, so it would've been $1619 instead of $1599. I already had an order with Apple since May 23, but cancelled it to order from Best Buy, without knowing you could price match. Next time I guess.

I order Monday around noon, but in Space Gray.

FWIW, my order of the base system from Apple took 12+ days to get to me. Had to come from China and spend days waiting in Shanghai and then a few more in Louisville.

Hm, they must be short on stock for the Silver. I was already 8 days in processing from Apple, so I figured it could've arrived a lot sooner at this point.
