some people post a question and already know what they are going to do. This is an example.

well, you guys did ask what i would use my item for, and i replied back.

i know that MOST people on here that are nice and helpful, and i thank them for the help that those people gave me, but with all due respect to those who are telling me that i am rude, you are being equally rude as well. most of your answers were like 'do you NEED this' or ' you are not explaining what you use the device for', i came here to ask for some friendly advice, and this is what i get?? for the billionth time, i would use my device for movies, internet and gaming.

so think twice before you call me rude? and also, i have an iphone 3GS

Firstly, going by that logic, if you tell somebody that they are breaking the law, you are breaking the law also. Being rude and being confrontational are two completely different things - mine was the latter.

Anyway, back on topic, my reason for suggesting the 4S is because your original post stated that you would use the iPad for apps that don't run well on your 3GS. It seems that, unless you need the portability, you already have a desktop you are happy with, and the iPad wouldn't be used for more than apps that you already have.

The iPad is a fantastic interactive device, don't get me wrong. However, if you use your desktop heavily you might find yourself using the iPad much less than you were hoping. The 4S will be much faster than your 3GS, and will do everything that you want to do (from what you have listed).

Macbook Pro - suitable for heavy task and programs, definitely gets more work done compared to the iPad. Where as for the iPad - its ideal for simpler tasks and applications, and lastly its advantage in portability compared to the MBP.

IMPO, I would suggest to go for the Macbook Air, which lies nicely between the boundaries of the two. =]

HNY!

hi, im just wondering if a macbook pro or an ipad would suit me better?
my chosen options:
macbook pro 13"
ipad 2(or 3?) 32GB

I already have a main dell desktop for my main bits - if i got the MBP i would use it for the things that the PC can't do, or has the better overall software that comes with it to do my needs. At the moment i use my main PC for internet, word processing and just a bit of gaming now and then :apple:

If i got the ipad i would use it for the apps i cant do on my iphone 3GS (because the apps i like - they tend to lag a lot on the 3GS) and for movies/TV programmes

the times i would be expected to buy them would be between april/march time and around this time next year.

so what do you think guys and girls?

Honestly, either would do you great but April/March next year is a very good time to be buying an MBP. Intel will be releasing their brand new processor there now which will boost the MBP's power by quite a bit, whilst reducing power consumption. Also, there is speculation that a new iPad will be released in around March, so I would wait if i were you until the time comes and when it does, just pick which of the two will suit your wallet better .i.e. do you need to spend £1000 on a laptop or should you stick to the £400 iPad?

(I was in the same predicament so I bought a MacBook. BEST. DECISION. EVER.)

I wasn't going by any logic, if those that were being rude were nOt being rude then I would have said thatthey were rude.

This entirely depends on your needs. I used to carry both an iPad and my MacBook with me, until I have sold the iPad because I needed the quick cash. I plan on purchasing another iPad again once money allows, but this time, I don't plan on carrying it with me, just leaving it at home to allow me to mess around on the internet when I am in bed, watching YouTube videos, etc.

My MacBook Pro on the other hand contains valuable data needed for work, and access to the entire Adobe suite which is also needed for work.

For me it is Work vs. Play
