my MBP (in the sig) does round 75 celsius and 6000rpm when playing COD:MW2 at highest settings with 9600GT on. so, yourse are not normal.

I've had some serious problems with my mac being hot while playing WoW. Blizzard says its because of the new patch. I've downloaded smc fancontrol and when ever i do anything cpu intensive i bump my minimum fan speed to 6000. i also have a fairly large fan(9 inch) blowing on my mac. I don't ever go over 80c and i usually don't go over 75c while playing wow on max settings. Hope this helps anybody who is playing wow recently and has noticed some game lag and overheating.

I don't think you should worry too much. Take a look at this thread
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/853187/

90 C is perfectly normal under full load. The CPU is rated to 105 C and then it starts throttling its clock speed. It shuts down at 125 or somewhere around there. Intel probably knows what it's doing

90 C is well below the rated temperature, I doubt it will shorten the CPU life (or it might shorten it from say 30 years to 20 years!)

Hear that? It's the sound of 100 macrumors members posting about their disgust at Apple and Intel for cheating them out of 10 years.

Never mind lol

Yeah, I've had it back from repair for less then two days and it's been stupid hot. So they are just going to replace it with a 2.8GHz model. I'm not complaining that much. Hahaha.

i have a macbook pro 3,1 and my temperature reaches 99 degres celcius ( the cpu ) quite frequently, im using smc fan control to put them at 6,000 rpm when this happens but sometimes it still remains in the 90´s

i recently read on macrumors about macpros heating up and it affecting performance when playing music, im wondering if this is a similar thing, my computer is on 50-60 celcius if nothing is open, but itunes, youtube, and rapidweaver cause my computer to get hot and the performance to get kind of laggy, i had the defective videocard and it caused my screen to go completely black but i got that replaced.

any thoughts?

i took it to a distributor to get looked at, but they said nothing was wrong.

90° C with the fan at 6000 rpm ? Something wrong here ...
Maybe a problem with the heatsink (wrongly mounted or too much thermal compound) ...

What's your cpu's temperature when idle ? I mean without YouTube running

I have a late 08 2.53 that gets extremely hot whenever I do anything processor intensive. While gaming with a full processor load I've seen 105˚C with the 9600 and 100˚C with the 9400, fans at 6200 rpm. I get high temps and fan speeds even when it's not under load (first temp in attachment is processor, second is videocard. This is with the 9400.)
