I'm seeking a bit of advice, I'm not really up to date anymore regarding known issues in the different types of MacBook Pro's.

Currently I'm using a Late 2013 with the following specs:
  • 2,3GHz i7
  • 16GB
  • 512GB SSD
  • GT750M
And looking to upgrade the SSD to a faster 1TB one. However, after reading about the upgrade and difficulties with hibernation I'm considering getting a newer model to save some trouble. Mid 2015 would be able to use a 970 Evo from the get go.
In our market (different to the US second hand market) I'm hoping to still get €900-1000,- for my current MBP.

And I found these options:

MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2015 (~€1350 asking price)
  • 2,8GHz i7
  • 16GB
  • 1TB SSD
  • R9 M370X
Top model of the old design, I love the ports and the keyboard, no TB3 is a bit of a downside, 1TB standard SSD is a plus. However, I always thought the R9 3XX series from AMD ran quite hot and this combined with a top-tier i7 would perhaps result in a toasty hot MacBook compared to my current one? And other known-issues perhaps that I'm not aware of next to display coating issues?

MacBook Pro 15" 2016 (~€1400 asking price)
  • 2,6GHz i7
  • 16GB
  • 256GB SSD
  • Radeon Pro 450
Even though missing the multitude of ports from the previous design I do love the newer design and the price is quite competitive compared to others in the second hand market. The biggest downsides are the faulty butterfly keyboard, soldered smaller SSD, less types of ports and so more need of dongles. However future-proof wise it does have TB3 and the newer design does come with a mark-up in second hand market if I want to sell it again in a few years time. Are there known issues next to the butterfly-keyboard issues and display coating that I should consider?

Thanks for any input!

Oooo sorry didnt get a notification that there was a reply. My budget is stretchable but I don’t like spending over the €1500,- mark for a 15”. I don’t use it professionally i just like it for the hardware and MacOS.

Anyway, I found a steal, a 15” 2016 MBP:
  • 2.9GHz i7
  • 16GB
  • 512GB
  • Radeon 460 4GB
  • New enclosure and screen, latest rev keyboard
  • And AC+ till October 2020
For the sweet price of €1350,-

In the process I sold my 5K iMac for 100,- more than I bargained about a month ago. And I’m waiting for my MBP 2013 to leave starting from 850,-. At least I have the fealing I made some ok deals haha
