Update - supplier who covers it under their warranty replaced the display and lid angle sensor. So far so good.

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro 16 as well and mine does ot make such a noise when opening it. Does your Mac make a popping noise when you press on the bottom of the display from the back when opened at a 90 degree angle. I have seen that previous 15 inch models had this problem that you have described as well as the popping when you pressed on the display. Just look up on youtube "2017 macbook pro popping noise" on youtube. there are a few.

Mine makes a 'tink' noise when closing the lid. Has anyone else had this issue?

Perhaps to revive this post again - I have the exact issue as northernlight - do you think it is just a cosmetic issue? I'd love to get a replacement, but don't want to buy a new one, and ship this one way... Too much hassle. But if it would be a bigger issue in the future, I may consider it! Thanks.

it was annoying to hear the noise. Also poor workmanship isn’t really acceptable for premium equipment this dear, is it? If I were in your shoes, would send it back and get a new one.

True, but it would a bit of a hassle for my current situation. Do you know if it would get worse over time, or do you think it will just be as is for the rest of its life span?

I couldn't predict the outcome. Extending care plan could be a solution if you want to be covered for longer.
