Looking at the weight, the 16 inch appears to be heavier

15 inch
Weight: 4.02 pounds (1.83 kg)

16 inch
Weight: 4.3 pounds (2.0 kg)

Is it just me or does this seem like a noticable difference?

If you increase the screen size, don't you also have to increase the rest of the case (the part that contains the battery, keyboard, etc.)? Is there a difference in physical footprint between the 15" and 16"? If so, then you're adding mass so it stands to reason that the weight would increase.

case size is to accommodate the much bigger battery

It is bigger and heavier, I doubt it will really be noticeable and seems like a non issue to me carrying wise.

Right- it's the battery tho- not the increased screen size.
Yep, it's about the same weight as the 2015 15" and also happens to have almost the same size battery (99.5Wh vs 100) - perfectly acceptable IMO as someone used to the 2015 machine.

Bigger battery, heavier cooling system - it makes sense. It’s a bit of a shame that it’s back to 2 kg but it’s tolerable.
Back to the mbp that everyone loved but with 2x-3x performance increase and better battery

Here are the specs for both models:

15-inch:
Height: 0.61 inch (1.55 cm)
Width: 13.75 inches (34.93 cm)
Depth: 9.48 inches (24.07 cm)
Weight: 4.02 pounds (1.83 kg)

16-inch:
Height: 0.64 inch (1.62 cm)
Width: 14.09 inches (35.79 cm)
Depth: 9.68 inches (24.59 cm)
Weight: 4.3 pounds (2.0 kg)

Yes, the 16-inch model is bigger in all aspects, and also heavier. This is fine for many people, who do care more about the power than the size and weight. It seems really to be a laptop for media professionals.

It is not a laptop for me. At this point, I need something smaller and lighter. I carried around a 4.4 lbs 15-inch MacBook Pro (the retina one) for years, and it felt heavy. These days, I am leaned more towards the likes of the MacBook Air and similar laptops.

Bah, this "mpb everyone loved" is rather overused. Personally, I am happy that the 16" is closer to the 2016 design than to the 2012 design. I think that Apple managed to meaningfully improve on the chassis, without sacrificing the form factor. Looking forward to see the benchmarks. A bit worried about the keyboard, hope that the typing experience is similar to butterfly. Other than that, this looks like a very nice "large" MBP.

When people overused that loves ferrari means that ferrari makes beautiful cars
Like i said the 16” couldnt be in the same exact chassis as the 15”
Keyboard is 1mm travel scissors mec so the exact one that i had on my windows surface laptop 3 and its lovely, probably second to the x1 xtreme . So don’t worry ,its the most beautiful powerful laptop combination
I cant wait to test it monday to see the thermals and battery also the performance over my 2018 one

I fully agree. It is still an ultrabook, but with updated components it's position on the market is suddenly much better. The MBP is now strictly superior to laptops like XPS 15, X1 extreme etc. as well as their workstation counterparts. It is simply a better MacBook Pro, without losing anything that makes it typical Mac Book Pro, period.

Does anyone know if the charging brick is ' bigger and heavier ' too? Or is it the same dimensions as the prior version?

Only 40% of that weight increase can be attributed to the battery.

15-inch battery = 0.37 kg / 83.6 Whr
16-inch battery = 0.41 kg / 100 Whr

Not sure why you would refer to it being only for media people, what about programmers, medical, scientist, doctors, lawyers, lol...all need large screens, powerful devices....

If you watched any hands on preview videos, you'd see the general consensus is that it's barely noticeable. If you picked up both the 2018 15" and the 2019 16", you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Apart from that, you're grown up adults.

If .17 of a kg is going to cause your spine any extra strain that would lead to physiotherapy bills that would send you broke, buy a smaller computer. Wait for the rumoured 14". Or, I don't know, go to gym to strengthen yourself to be able to handle the extra strain of half a kg.
