32GB is not the minimum to run LR+PS. 16GB is the minimum (realistically). I have and use 16GB for LR+PS. Yes it is totally usable. I am keeping my 16GB MBP, works great for me.I am not sure I agree with the blanket statements that 32GB is the minimum to run LR + PS at the same time. I think it really boils down to what you are doing. For some--especially those who make their living doing photography that requires large edits--32GB+ might be a great idea. For kicks, I just opened three 600MB panorama files from LR into PS at the same time with my 16GB machine and while things were slightly more sluggish doing some basic tasks in PS, totally usable. Still a dream compared to my 2013 MBP. For me, I'll take the $400 savings for now and simply close Lightroom to free up RAM if it's ever an issue.
But if you are a heavy LR+PS user, especially with large files, there will be a benefit in having 32GB.
It is not black and white, like 16GB is not OK and 32GB is OK. So agree blanket statements cannot be made. But the suggestions to get 32GB for heavy LR+PS use are still valid, because there will be a benefit. Whether that benefit is worth $400, depends on the individual. In my opinion, there is a high probability of being worth it to a heavy PS+LR user, and a near certainty of being worth it to a LR+PS professional.
