When do you guys think the MacBook Pro 2011 would be announced?
(Please do not post any unnecessary comments such as noone knows, only Steve Jobs knows. No crap. This is for justified predictions hence the word "think".)

    I'll go first...

I think that the MacBook Pros will be refreshed early February 2011.
Mainly due to the following factors:
    - It'd likely to be after the CES, as the CES has taken much attention in regard to technology. If its released during the CES, it's likely that it will not get most attention as most of the consumer's attention is diverted to the CES itself.
    - USB 3.0 and Sandy Bridge are said to be announced after CES
    - It's been FAR over the average cycle day. It NEEDS a refresh/upgrade.
    - February is reasonable and not affected by the aftermath of the Xmas Season Sale (where Apple is most likely trying to get rid of all their remaining stock for the existing computers).
    - Some say April 2011. That is too far from the average cycle, and is unlikely that it will be announced after Q1. The latest I'd say is March 2011.
    - Some say Summer 2011 along with Lion. This is unlikely as you're telling me that Apple will be releasing the new computers with Lion OS? Then who will buy Lion OS itself?! Probably less people than if they released it prior to the Summer season. Apple is a company and they need this profit. It is unlikely it'd be out in Summer 2011.
    - The Mac App Store has been out already yesterday, it is likely that Apple is observing bugs and changes required to fix things, before releasing the new Macbooks. Steve had said the Mac App Store was, at its latest time, be released 90 days after October 20, which is roughly January 20th. Now that its released early, they have from now til 20 to observe bugs and fix things...ready for the new MBPs.
    - Since October, they had plenty of time to receive feedback from their Macbook Air, the future of the Macbooks. Now that they collected these data it is safe to release the MBPs.

I think in fact its going to be announced in the next couple of weeks. And out in early February.

What are your thoughts? Forgive me if I made a mistake.

Dual core Sandy Bridges will be released on February 20th so it's unlikely that we would see an update before that unless Apple gets early access. I know I've been saying early Feb for the past few days but it appears to be wrong (here is one dual)

I'm in the market for a new MBP, so I hope they release them soon, and with plenty of nice bits and bobs. I don't need a superdrive, so a tapered design would be lovely, with more ports and a larger screen.

    Regarding this.
Personally I have a feeling Apple will try to move to a specific time of year to update the Macs. They do it with the iPods, iPhones and seemingly the iPads now, so I can see them extending this to the rest of their lineup.

I agree with this. With most of their products on a yearly cycle, it doesn't make sense to have any of them on a shorter or longer cycle, or eventually there are going to be some overlapping product releases. With scattered yearly releases, Apple also gets to stay in the tech news year-round.

I'd love to see the new MBP's like... well, tomorrow, but I have a feeling it will be April, or at the very earliest, the end of March.

Most of the Mac products are NOT on a yearly cycle nor should they be. iPods, iPhones, and iPads are one thing. This should not be the case for the mainline computers. It just worked out that way for Macs last year, as it occasionally does. Many years most of the product line gets two updates, and occasionally some units get three! Take a look at release history on either the macrumors buyer's guide part of this website or the apple-history website that has also been around for quite a while.

Yeah even 10 months is on the longer end of Apple's update cycle for their computers. Standardizing on a 12- month cycle would be a terrible decision for their customers.

I admit I'm a little wet behind the ears when it comes go all things Apple. Before April of last year I owned nothing made by Apple at all. I hope it's not April cause I'm itching to upgrade my 13" to a 15" i7, and fighting the urge to buy now.

Some of you really need to drink some cool-aid about 2011 MBP. Apple is not updating MBP so soon. Steve said MBA is the future of Macbook, yes. But, pro users and air users are very different.

I wouldn't be surprised if apple wait for WWDC 2011 to update MBP to release it with Lion. Who will buy lion? Those of us who don't want to buy laptops. You guys are just making assumptions the way you like and you are all hoping apple will release an update so soon. Guess what? MBA was updated back in June 09 and it was updated after 16 months on late October 2011. Normally, apple follows the trend, but they are obviously planning something bigger.

But like you said yourself, MBP and MBA users are very different. MBP users expect more up to date hardware than MBA users. This is pretty obvious by the fact that MBA users will buy a computer that was just updated a few months ago with a C2D processor.

Seriously, people who get annoyed at these thread, I hope they stop posting to these thread. They should just google(was it mrgoogle.. or whatever it was)...
This website is macRUMOR.. not macOFFICIAL.. I think it's ok to speculate and beat same subject to death based on speculation.. It's fun.. I love it and that's why I come here everyday because I love apple ******.

    Back to the speculation.. :D

Can someone w/ more brain than me (99.9% of the population) come up w/ some logical event for apple based on verizon iphone being released in begining of feb)? I guess we will know more next tues but want to line everything up. (my main concern is new mbp)

    Does this possibly mean that

feb -- iphone 4(possibly feature bump as well) on verizon
    mar/april -- ipad 2
    may/june -- mbp ???????? along w/ lion
and possibly not release iphone 5 this year??

I wish it was more like

feb -- iphone 4 on verizon AND MBP!!!

    april -- ipad 2
    may -- lion
    june -- iphone 5

Going back to my shelter now... go ahead... bombs away~
