Here's an example of my ping times when connected to my local network in N mode:

Just to make sure that wasn't a typo, it went from 3.3ms to over 2,000ms !?!?!

I've got a problem with my MBP also, but it seems a lot more specific than the various issues on this thread. My connection dies when I close and re-open my machine. I've tried turning AirPort off and back on, and I've tried doing a DHCP release/renew. Neither of them work. The only thing that will get my internet connection back up is running Network Diagnostics.

Oh, and this affects both Safari 5 and Google Chrome, so I doubt it's a browser-thing as some here have suggested.

I'm running a late 2010, 15-inch MacBook Pro (high-end base model) with hi-res display option and all other specs stock, running Mac OS 10.6.7 Build 10J869.

My Macbook pro has this issue. Drop out from my W-Lan network and the router is disconnecting all devices and I have to restart it.

The issue is SO bad on mine that I am seriously considering returning it!

Not only does it drop signal ALL the time but it then seems to refuse to reconnect to the network either telling me the password is wrong or the connection times out.

This is despite my iphone4 sitting on one side of it and my iPad on the other - both of which have FULL wifi signal and BOTH will connect with the supplied password EVERYTIME...

If I use the MBP in a stand with the lid closed - bluetooth keyboard and an ext monitor - then any signal I get is also degraded....

It is pretty shocking on an £1800 laptop, and an issue I never had with my now sorely missed C2D

I have the same issue. Refuse to connect and teel me that the password is wrong. Sometimes other devices has problem with connecting to the network because off my MBP. The ping is better with the update, about 1-3MS (<1 ms in bootcamp and no problems) but the packet lose are about the same. It happen multiple times a day.

I have reseted the PRAM and SMC now. I hope that solves the problem...

I occasionally get what appear to be DNS issues: stalls when loading pages. Changing DNS servers usually fixes things, for awhile, then things stall again, then I change DNS servers again, and so forth. I have tried flushing the DNS cache but that makes no difference.

I'm having the same issues as well. I'm called apple numerous times and they repeated have told me the problem was with my wireless connection (router..etc) rather than the MBP. This is certainly something I did not expect from a $2500+ machine.

It just sucks I passed my 14 day return policy. Because I certainly would have returned this a long time ago.

I have a 15" 2011 and I there are times where the internet will slow to a crawl or it will drop completely. Turning Airport Off and On has worked everytime so far.

This works for me too, though we shouldn't have to do something like that just to get a signal.

I agree this isnt something we should have to do. especially for something is this price range. Today alone in the past 4 hrs I've dropped internet about 6x. Not cool.

Sucks I'm past my 14days of return policy.

I'd be curious to see what would happen if you took it back and tried to exchange it. I bet they would if you bitched enough.

I haven't noticed any issues on my 2011 13" MBP. Wifi seems no different than on my last few PCs. No drops in connection at all?

The high latency issue was resolved for me with last week's updates, but I've had one dropout since then. It may have been a "legitimate" dropout so I'll wait and see whether it happens again.

To those that are still having issues, have you installed the 1.4 software update and EFI update?

Edit: And just a few minutes after posting this, it dropped out again :(

Yah, well at this point they definitely will hear alot of bitchin from me. This is ridiculous.

Ya, got off the phone with tech support a couple of days ago. I was advised that 1.4 update would solve the problem. Tried that worked fine that night. Yesterday found the EFI update and as I soon as I did that upon restart airport couldnt find my network what so ever. Finally fixed it after 1.5 hrs of being on the phone with tech support again.

And today... nothing but constant internet drops.

Very frustrating.

Still happening for me as well, and just realised I missed the 14 day period...I have applecare so that may be used.

Really annoying and just dont understand it, especially this password issue. I can see the network in airport, when I try to connect, tells me the password is wrong, BUT when I move closer to my time capsule - bang it connects with that password...I am certainly no network genius but this strikes me as very odd..

Also annoying like I think I said before- my iPad, iPhone, xbox360 and airport express do not have these issues so my problem is definitely NOT the time capsule...

Very frustrating that I now have to work in the lounge as opposed to my office because my brand new £1800 laptop can not get a wifi signal!!

First post

I purchased (my first ever) MBP 13" over the weekend and the WiFi has been dropping out frequently. Switching over from Windows, this is something that l didn't expect to see in a new Apple laptop; a model which had Thunderbolt and faster processor speeds updated, l thought that these issues would have been ironed out long ago. Is it OS related?
Random drop outs, inserting/ejecting a USB device (USB stick/hard drive), screen saver (black screen) starts, l get wifi drop outs. Frustrating to say the least. Probably 15+ drop outs today alone.

I have 2 other PC's in the house (desktop + laptop, both running Win7) and haven't had issues with them, ever.

Apart from the WiFi issue, l quite like the Macbook.

My WiFi issue was solved in last update, even though they didn't mention it..
But its fixed for me for some reason...

Got an update last night and l haven't had a drop out since.
Looks good so far.
