I've been on preparing to ship for about the same.Ordered my rMBP on 6/15 and it finally changed this past Friday afternoon to Preparing for Shipment. I have been stuck on Preparing for Shipment for 50+ hours now. I'm really hoping it changes to shipped tomorrow morning. Anyone else been stuck on Preparing to Ship?

Wow, some people need to grow up and stop feeling so entitled by Apple. When you ordered it, it was clear it was going to take forever. When they give you a range of dates "X"-"Y," it doesn't mean it will come on X, it means it will come sometime between that range.
If you don't it on X, stop complaining. You're not the only one waiting. We're all waiting for the laptop too. If you can't wait (which you should've thought about in the first place), go buy something else. Apple isn't stopping you. Hell, they have thousands of other people lined up to buy it.

I have already been charged for the apple care but my laptop is not even been made. I know it's for three years but when does it start? Hopefully it is after I get billed for the laptop or receive it.
Secondly, just curious if any orders from the 19th of June have gone to being shipped. I ordered a 2.6/16/512 at seven pm online in Chicago. Mine is in processing and is scheduled to be here with 2-3 days shipment between July 17 to the 23rd.

I believe I read somewhere that applecare starts the day you get your computer.
I ordered my comp (2.7/16/512) on the 20th of June sometime in the early morning, so I've been paying pretty good attention to whether or not people from around that time have had there's shipped yet - and I haven't noticed many, if any. From what I can tell though, besides those who are stuck in the 6/11 rut, orders go out 1-2 days early typically. So I'd look for some movement later in this week.
This is something that I always want to find out. But according to Apple:
"With the AppleCare Protection Plan, you can extend your service coverage to three years from the computer’s purchase date."

I have a feeling that this is what Apple would follow. This means that many of us will lose at least a month of AppleCare.

You can call them to verify but I am pretty sure they go by the ship date, and since that is only usually 2-3 days from when you actually receive it, they can adjust it for you.
I think I remember from past orders that my applecare started around the time I was charged for the order (which is technically when you "bought it"), and that usually happens at the "Preparing for Shipment" stage.
If not I'm pretty sure Apple would gladly give you that month back if you called and asked them about it.
Less than 15 miles from it's destination now, I think I will be getting this beast tomorrow - one day early!

We didn't purchase anything yet. These are all orders as there is no machine that we can call ours nor do we pay/purchase (and there's no serial number that Apple could tie the AppleCare to). The order becomes a purchase when they build a unit for us specifically and prepare to ship it out (which is also when we get charged for it and it can be called a purchase).
I ordered the same but earlier in the day. Shipped on the 7th (seemed to go straight from processing). Hopefully yours will ship soon

I've just been moved to shipped status with an expected delivery date from Apple of July 12th (Fedex tracking says 11th). Just about a month since ordering my rMPB.
I really do hope it gets out today, otherwise it may get put on hold for a couple more days due to the weather situation in Shanghai http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Shanghai+CHXX0116:1:CH

I'd also bet that those who ordered on day 1 who are still waiting also happened to get 768GB SSDs, for which there seems to be a rather large shortage of parts. I'd fall off my chair in surprise if you ordered a base model on day one and it hasn't shipped.
