New to the forum, but I ordered my very first Mac on Monday. I've been a long time fan, but never had the funds or necessity for one until I started school this year.

Tracking my new MacBook Pro 15" has been worse than waiting for Christmas morning on Christmas Eve as a child. I find myself constantly updating the tracking number status on my iPhone and desktop. I can't even concentrate!

I was pretty sad that it stayed in Shanghai for 2 days (4 days after purchase) and has now sat in Japan for the entire day today and still hasn't moved. It is scheduled to be delivered on the 30th, but now with Hurricane Sandy coming, who knows... That storm better stay the hell away, I don't want to have to wait any longer haha.

Here's the details of my build. I went with the standard hdd because I plan on upgrading to the OCZ 256GB SSD down the road. I couldn't justify spending the extra money through Apple.

I didn't go with the rMBP because I wanted the ability to upgrade in the future as this laptop will be getting me through the next several years of college, and I do not want a computer with soldered components. I also wanted an anti-glare display which is not available, as you all know, on the rMBP.

2012 MacBook Pro 15"
Hi-res Anti-glare Display
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM -2x4GB
750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400

FWIW, Sandy should have little effect as I believe your shipment should arrive via the West Coast.

Ordered my rMBP BTO on Thursday....currently sitting at "Processing Items" and scheduled for an Oct 31 - Nov 2 delivery.

It will have little effect while over the west coast, but when it is scheduled to arrive is when the storm could be hitting us. Our area got hit hard by Irene last year and screwed everything up. It closed many main roads in NH and VT for months. Just hoping it doesn't hit us; our area can't take another hurricane after last year's devastation.

DOH! Failed to check where you lived. :p

EDIT: Located Search Function and answered my own question :)

My BTO rMBP showed import release and then a departure scan @ 10:26PM in Shanghai which I estimated meant it was put onto a flight that left Shanghai about 45min later bound for Anchorage, AK.

Has anyone else had their laptop come via Alaska? I am guessing they are stopping for refueling, but the flight plan doesn't make reference to the flight continuing on.
