They have already done what they are going to do. They issued special cleaning instructions.

Practice your zig zag motion and remember to hold it at a 75 degree angle. Not 70, not 80, but 75 or you will be blowing it wrong :)

My guess is: nothing until the next redesign comes out. At most, extend the replacement program to the newer models in case butterfly v3 does not prove as reliable as they hoped (too soon to tell).

Yeeah, the 2018 keeyboars are perfect. have no complants.

I’m sure a few people out there will have legit issues on the 2018 MBP keyboards, but technically every gen of MBP has had at least a handful of people bring in units for keyboard repairs. So far it seems promising that there aren’t any new threads of people complaining about the keyboard failing on the 2018 model.

I sadly have a 2018 15" that needs a replacement top case due to key repeats of multiple letters (was told this in the Apple Store today). Was hoping my keyboard issues were finally done after selling my 2016 and 2017 but seems like not. Hoping I'm the outlier and just really unlucky.

I've got a 13" 2018 here, and my left-side Command key works not quite 100%. But, this is by no means as severe a problem as people have mentioned with the earlier gen keyboards. No totally dead keys, no repeats, no double strokes, etc.

It ain't perfect, but honestly, looking on the bright side, they did improve it over the previous gen. It could be a lot worse.

Yep, this is trolling and frustrating, because I guarantee you now people are going to jump on this as if it were legit and start ranting off with talk of how all the 2018 keyboards are failing.
Mine did fail tho. Letter i was doublestroking 1,5mo after purchase

On average how many days does it take for Apple to replace the keyboard/top cover?

For those who have been using a keyboard cover from day one, do you have such keyboard failure issue?

I exchanged my first 2018 for keys still sticking after a keyboard replacement, and the new one started doing the same within about 1000 words of typing. So keyboard covers are clearly irrelevant.

If yours hasn't started failing yet, rest assured it will eventually. It’s a design flaw, plain and simple.

And now the Spacebar on my third machine (about two weeks old) is doubling. For f**k’s sake!!!!!!!!

And it is not just the failure rate. Even when it is working fine, the key board has a terrible feel to it. I can't tell if I have sticking keys or I am just not able to adjust to the feel. What is Apple doing these days?

Some would argue it should be pretty darn near perfect for the price premium (and given this is their 3rd revision).

Your issues would be more acceptable if this was a £299 Acer laptop.

"It could be a lot worse." is the best thing we can say about apple computers today. Sad, personally also, because I have loved every day I have used macs since 2006.

I get what you're saying, and from one perspective you're right. A few years ago, I'd have had the same viewpoint.

Today, I just choose not to fight it. It's a sign of getting old, I think :)

Cheers.

Yes, I have also enjoyed using Macs since my initiation in 2009. And, I have watched the build quality go from almost flawless to ... this. Sad, but it is what is.
