He is talking about the connectors on the flat flex cable; I've had those for 5 years. Now, the Apple Airport connectors are another story haha.

I mean the card were working on will also fit the 2011-2012 Mac mini if there isn't space constraints.

I just wanted to say that Quickertek has the worst customer service. I attempted to buy the UCard 4 on February 9th and politely contacted them to enquire about when the card will be shipped out. They responded back saying the cards will be available in mid-March, then asked me if I wanted a refund or wait. I opted for the refund because I did not want to wait too long, then was told that the refund would be processed end of February/Early March. I was okay with this, but when I contacted them this past week (via two emails, left a voicemail), they never bothered to respond. After waiting five business days without a response, I had to file a claim with bank to get my money back.
Few notes from this experience, they are selling a product that they do not have in stock and they will hold on to your money without refunds. Expect no customer service or any response. My recommendation is to stay away from them.

Sorry guys, I've unfortunately come to realize that the antenna connectors on the cMBP are too large to be used with the new rMBP 802.11ac cards. I feel like I got so close to finishing the project, yet failed. This would've been an excellent Kickstarter. I even spent the time on developing an adapter board. 🙁 Feel free to chime in.

Looking to upgrade Airport Board on my Mid-2012 MBPr.
I have noticed that both BCM94360CSAX (653-0029, 661-8143) and BCM943602CS (653-0194, 661-02363) would fit.
I can't find major differences between the 2 other than 653-0029 is the earlier version (Late 2013 - Mid 2014) and 653-0194 is the later version (2015).
Can you guys do some speed checks and upload the results to see if there is in-fact any differences between the two boards.

Got the653-0194 (BCM943602CS) card. Here are my before and after results for Mid 2012 MacBook Pro Retina Display.
Transmit Rate increased from 450 to 702. (N to AC connection).
Speedtest results increased from 253 (max of 3) to 326 (max of 3). With the best servers selected for the speed, 326 was my highest after the upgrade. Before no matter what server I would choose, I would not reach above 300. I have optimum/AlticeOne 400 speed internet.
Auto Unlock is now Supported.
I'm happy with the results.

Do you have any insight on how it might look on a rMBP? Does it even need an adapter board?
EDIT: Looking at pics from iFixIt, seems that should be a 1:1 swap on rMBP?

Don't know. It was 7 years ago, so I got mine upgraded and have forgotten about it.
Works like a charm, with handover and Apple Watch unlock.
I know this is an oldish thread, but I'm trying to completely max out an old Santa Rosa MBP--more for fun than anything else. I bought it new 13 years ago, and believe it or not, I still use it on a regular basis--kids are on virtual learning right now, and they need the better computers for school.
I actually have a dongle for ac working right now fairly reliably (through USB 3.0 with an expresscard) on El Capitan, but was looking to move to an internal solution. Does anyone know if something in this thread would work? I think I have given it a comprehensive look and haven't seen anything directly relevant.

You would have to use the same looking adapter for the Mac Pro 5,1 then find your Bluetooth module and send the data +/- wires to it.
I don't know how much room is inside the Santa Rosa MacBook Pro between the top case and logic board and if an adapter+AC card can fit in between

I'd like to upgrade the airport card on an early 2013 15" rMBP. I see in this thread and elsewhere that the BCM943602CS card is highly recommended. Can anyone verify if that is fully compatible with my model and doesn't lose any of the native functions like handoff, wake on lan, proper sleeping and waking of both WiFi and BT? I've also found conflicting reports of whether it support unlocking my model with an Apple Watch and conflicting reports about internet recovery support. Any insights O wise ones of the inter webs?

I have a mid 2010 MacBook and a Late 2009 MacBook (both a1342) apparently the a1286 and a1297 MacBook pro’s all have the same wifi card, will this work on my 2010? I’m looking for an upgrade cause I’m so used to airdrop and apple watch unlock. I really hope it works, and where exactly do you buy the adapter board? I’d gladly buy one.
