I haven't posted here in a while, but probably the drive is going bad. This is a big known issue with the 840 and 840 EVO drives. There's a patch out for the 840 EVO for what I know.
Yes. Any time you are going to install OS X updates, turn off Trim Enabler first. If you don't, you could end up with a grey screen and a circle with a slash down the middle. In other words, the Mac may not boot properly, and you have to either enter some terminal commands to repair or enter Command +R, and reinstall the OS (which doesn't remove personal files apps. It just restores system files and settings).

The only issue with the 840 EVO, which can be fixed with the firmware upgrade, is that it will run older files more slowly over time. Nothing in the OP's OP is related to that.
Perhaps a problem with degraded shielding or impedance mismatch, rather than a completely broken cable?
But whatever the cause, this seems to be very common in the unibody macbook pro, or at least as common as genuine SSD failures. I've seen this on several other forums. e.g. Crucial SSD forum. Sometimes the HDD will work well enough at SATA-I or SATA-II speeds, while the faster SSD will fail to work at all.
But if the SSD works in the USB enclosure, but not in the macbook, then most times the problem is SATA cable related.

Okay so I was being stupid yesterday and I used the Samsung Performance Restoration Software on a NEW Samsung 840 EVO...
While I was using the software, a dialogue said the firmware was being updated as well. How do I check what firmware I am in right now because Samsung has a separate ISO for a firmware update as well.
Is there any way to benchmark my Mac (Black magic seems great but I don't know how to read it)
