It's, sadly, normal. It is a major issue with all the new Mac Book Pro's. The problem specifically lies with the Airport wifi card that was designed by Broad com. It's all over the Apple forums. Some people have reported using drivers from a dell laptop which had an airport card and it fixed the problem. Couldn't tell you which driver it was, been weeks since I went through that ordeal myself.
