You know, powerpoint plugs have different shapes around the world. And many aren't rotationally symmetric. i.e. Australian ones...
Anyways, now for the general rant at anyone who's still here...
I use my MBP mostly with the 2-prong adapter, and do not get any shocks. I sometimes get very faint buzzing in my earphones when something metal touches the case, but I would bet that's static electricity built up in me, going into the case.
Basically, this has NOTHING TO DO WITH APPLE apart from them choosing to have a conductive metal case. It has everything to do with poor earthing connections, or charge building up in YOU (or me) and being discharged through the case when you touch it.
And with the whole 1 Volt can kill you thing... Yes, 1 volt can be lethal, in the same way that someone throwing a feather at you can be lethal if it's travelling at Mach 12. All that is required is a relatively small amount of current to flow across your heart to screw up its rhythm. The voltage only needs to be sufficient to generate that current.
Rant over.
