I’m referring to something like this. I clear picture of the aluminum chassis top case sides exposed. There’s no photos of that. This is the tech21.

There absolutely were photos of the sides in Jck's post. You can easily see what is and isn't covered.
Not at that angle. Only of the front of the display. That’s not the same thing.
Never mind. I thought you were talking about the top case with the ports, not the lid with the display.

Haven’t read the whole thread, but does anyone recommend any cases similar to the tech21 that offer full body protection of the top lid(no exposure of the chassis on the side)? Moshi seems to be the safest bet, but they are telling me there’s no definitive release date.
I am also waiting for a decent hard case to be available for my MBP 14" as well. Are you sure the Moshi case will fully cover the top?
I’m not a 100 percent certain, though i have used Moshi in the past. I think it’s hands down the best case for the MacBook. My moshi for the 2019 16” covered the full lid. I am fine with exposure of the hinge and ports, but the lid can get easily damaged from dust and debris. My early 2011 speck damaged the bottom case with just a smidgen of dust making it’s way between the case and the bottom of the MacBook. The annoying thing is despite the price, the tech21 was nearly perfect. The top case is protected beautifully. It’s the lid that’s the problem. Same with UAG and other brands.

Oh, wow. Not as bad as tech21 and closer to the 2019 moshi. I’m wondering if moshi will take care of that problem a little effectively this time. What do you think of the incase so far? I understand you removed it once, but have you removed it since. If so, any dust or scratches?

Yes, so does my ibenzer. You still have non protected back corners, so I guess you need to pick your poison.
I didn't realize the 16inch 2019 also had a slight gap. However, its pretty subtle compared to the tech 21 2021 MacBook eco tint. Here's a better photo. Like the incase, it also appears above the ports. However, the tech 21 has additional gaps in the most random areas of the side lid.

Nudoru, what do you think of the UAG dot so far. Is it easy to remove? If so, is it dust and scratch free post-removal? May be looking at the lucent. Thanks.

Yeah, it's easy to remove so far. I take cases on/off frequently so I've never had a problem with a case having dust build-up or causing scratches.
I bought the clear Incase dots case and I like it better than the UAG one. I'm not a fan of the UAG's piece that joins the case halves and I like the smaller dots of the Incase.
Sorry I’m a bit late on this one. But here’s pics of the tech21 evo tint. As I said before, it’s a great case. However, the chassis exposure on the lid sides could become a problem. That being said, the case is more durable than the thinner plastic hardshells due to the TPU. It feels very similar to a tech 21 iPhone evo case vs the cheap plastic feeling of it’s competitors.

Looks good, I may try that one. Is it slippery? The bit of lid exposure doesn't bother me.
Not slippery at all. I can’t find any other cons besides the lid exposure. If you don’t care about that, this case will be great for you. 71 bucks is a great deal for this case, given the tpu iPhone case like material. I’m still a huge fan of the moshi iglaze, but this TPU material makes the moshi iglaze bendable, scratchless tough plastic look like one of the Chinese prototypes(ibenzer, mosiso). It feels great. I still haven’t removed it, but it looks pretty comparable to the 2019 moshi removal.

So, can you please clarify me the material of this case? I am not sure, tpu or plain plastic.
Do you think that this is better even than moshi's?
I guess much better than the competition of cheap hard shell.
Also I am not sure how 'hard' this shell is, but the point is the protection of the device.
It’s TPU. Feels more durable than the typical plastic cases including moshi. Moshi has a very durable plastic and much better than incase, UAG or any of the Chinese brands, though it’s thin. The TPU on the tech21 is thicker than the typical plastic hardshell. It also has a raised lip all around the top case. This is lacking from its competitors including moshi. It almost feels like a tech21 evo check case. It will work better against bumps and has very good impact resistance. However, given the MacBook has more moving parts and is heavier than an iPhone, this won’t protect against drops. Maybe light drops.
In terms of it being better than moshi, I’m referring to the material. I still don’t like the exposure of the chassis on the lid on the tech21. Moshi does a much better job of that, albeit we haven’t seen the new iteration yet. The Moshi will probably be lighter as well. I was told by moshi that due to supply issues that they have no designated release date yet for the iglaze.

Hi everyone, just wondering if your hard shell cases is preventing your MBP from ever slightly closing perfectly flush? I've noticed this on two of the hard shell cases ive tried - there's a tiny gap thats inevitable because of the clips on the bottom case.
