Warranties and Batteries

Peppernut,

Just took my macbook pro to the apple store for consultation with a genius concerning my dying battery (I got about 1.5 out of the thing before I purchased a new battery). Apparently, extended warranty applies in certain cases except normal wear and tear - at least that is what I was told and what I read on the apple.com website. I've had my macbook since late 2007 (thought I was going to qualify for a new battery under the advisory apple put out about bad macbook batteries).

Thanks Lou. I've bee FRIGHTFULLY BUSY lately and haven't had a chance to do anything about the battery yet. Where in the world are you? In the UK, you can usually get satisfaction even if the warranty has run out or if an item isn't covered. I'm not sure how this works, but my husband usually gets results in such cases.

Best wishes,

PN

What to expect

I'm considering purchasing an end of line (not refurb or ex demo) Macbook Pro with removable battery. If I do, should it come with the battery fully charged or will it need charging? Should it be charged fully before using? Should I expect there to be any charge cycles already completed?

I can't remember if mine needed to be charged first, but I think that it did. If you're buying it new with all of its documentation, it should tell you on the instruction sheet, or you can ask at the store (though a lot of times the sales personnel are ignorant of the facts...).
