Yeah but you can save the tax via Payboo, so that's an extra 7-9% savings over EDU, depending on your state.

"save the tax" is marketing speak for applying for a credit card and then getting points back equivalent to the tax rate.

Back in the day, BH was the best place to buy stuff because they didn't charge sales tax at all.

Uh, Microcenter has been selling base M3 14" MBP for $1,439.99 since the beginning of the month while Adorama had the base M3 14" MBP for $1,399 and the M3 Pro 14" MBP for $1,799 (both Adorama sales now over). But they're never mentioned because they're not a MR affiliate partner.

View attachment 2312683I don't see any M3 pros at Microcenter on sale. Looking only for 16gb version that's usually $1999 (same you show above from Adoroma) thx

They will not price match B&H. I tried for the M3 Pro purchased last Friday. They don't match competitors "coupons"
They only match of the price was $1799 without the coupon.
I didn’t realize they had the coupon caveat. That’s a bummer. It may still be worth trying online or at another store. Annoying technicality.

Understood. But either way it's a legitimate savings. It's even better than 'points back' because you're only charged the non-tax amount on your Payboo statement . So it's very friction-free.

I'm guessing BB won't price match Costco either, because Costco has the M3s flagged as a "Black Friday" deal.

That’s why when I buy a new Mac I use my government employee discount or just buy from an exchange on a military base.
Bought an M1 Mac mini base model in June. And since it had set there for over a year it was 25% off and then on top of that zero tax.
Great for you, but not the other 95% of us

Everybody literally is. They don't verify at all.

I don't agree that folks who don't qualify for EDU discount should purchase with EDU pricing just because Apple doesn't verify them. I don't think it's right. However, that is a personal and ethical judgement call so I'm not going to debate that here.

I think these are some good deals, especially for the base model. Thats really the price it should be. I need to remember this if and when I upgrade in 2027. Even though I am personally looking at making Vision Pro be my primary computing device.
Surely not until at least the 2nd iteration of the VisionPro! I mean...we know that it won't be until the second or third gen that it will begin to become more capable and integrated and possibly useful as a computer replacement. Though I still think one would need a laptop or desktop in order to run most software? You're very daring. :)
Don't get me wrong -- ultimately I do think the VP will replace a traditional laptop/desktop, but I don't think the power and software integration (with made for VisionPro software from the major producers) will be there (or the price) for a while yet.

They have to comply with the law...that's what changed and why they charge taxes if you live in a state which applies them. I agree on the marketing-speak. It's rare there's any real 'savings' with most credit cards, store cards in particular. And I could never take seriously a company with the name "Payboo", it not only sounds like a scam, but is possibly run by idiots (to name their product "Payboo").
