I second this sleeve! Just bought the black one and it's amazing. Super soft.

How protective would you say the sleeve is? I have the Thule but I don't really like how I have to open it up and unstrap if every time I use my computer. I worry that when I slide it in the zipper will scratch my computer.

I never use the strap located on the inside of the Thule case for the same reason. Doesnʻt really do anything to secure the computer.

Has not using the strap ever caused any issues? There's some wiggle room since I have the retina.

In my limited experience no. Could it in the future? Possibly; but I think very unlikely. Enjoy your case. Saw the price drop on Best Buy an ordered another to have in reserve. Thanks for the tip!

As for the zippers, yeah theyʻre kind of a pain. But itʻs the cost of ownership. And, as I mentioned before, if you close the zippers the case can be used as a table for your laptop. If youʻre a mobile college student, and donʻt want someoneʻs coffee and sticky food attaching itself to the bottom of your expensive new purchase, this unintended feature is pretty awesome.

Get a sleeve from Rickshaw Bags! You can custom select the colors you want. I put my rMBP in one and then put it in the padded sleeve in my backpack. It works really well as a pad under my rMBP when I'm using it at a desk or table too.

I used my 09 MBP for 4 years with an Incase neoprene sleeve. Just a few scratches and dents and slightly bent "ears" (the corners of the display near the hinge; according to the Genius Bar it happens often). I never used a Speck case or anything like it. Use your Mac and enjoy it :)

The case is mostly for transporting your MacBook with the intention of using it without a case on (although I've fit my MacBook in a ColcaSac with a speck case on). I love how it has no zippers and it hugs the MacBook tightly. I do not think it would survive any horrendous drops. The outer lining is soft to the touch but feels very sturdy and substantial. For scratches and scuffs I would rank this case among the best; wouldn't rely on it for drop protection (the best drop protection is your watchful eye and care).

Here are some pictures of the Colcasac.

If you just want a nice sleeve to protect your machine from scratches and scuffs, it's hard to find a better value than the lined, grey felt one at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2TA27Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My carry-bag/briefcase is the BBP Hamptons Hybrid, which is a messenger bag that can be converted to a backpack via some clever hasps on the strap. http://www.bbpbags.com Nicely constructed, capacious, well-priced, and you don't see them every damn day. Mine has lasted well for about four years.

Colcasac is the coolest case by far and very practical

I got a Thule Gauntlet, which is a rain and snow proof case since I go to the snowiest school in America

Speck See-Thru hard cases I had were fine. It doesn't damaged my 2007 and 2012 macbook pro. Also I use padded sleeve from AE messenger bag for my backpack. I am more careful with Speck case. :apple:
