no wonder they are falling apart so easily.. they're made with crappy quality and fast workers..

it's probably much much cheaper to get it made there

what happened to the stuff, that used to be made in Canada and USA..

thats the thing...its expensive to make stuff in the USA.

I'm a sales rep and have been to "Made in the USA" factories to see how the products I sell are made. I'm curious, who do you think are making the products in these "Made in the USA" factories? When I think of "Made in the USA" I picture big men and think Union...well the people that are actually doing the work aren't these men but instead the majority of the workers were either Hispanic or Asian that didn't speak much English. It doesn't bother me one bit because they do a fine job. It just make me chuckle when people think everything not made in the USA is junk seeing as it doesn't matter where the parts are put together, they are all shipped from overseas and there aren't many "Americans" putting things together.

It's also more expensive to "make stuff in the USA" because we have minimum wage and other benefits for the workers. Labor laws rule! :D

I am waiting also ...

I have no idea what is happening , I've search the net for information about Apple , Fedex and China and all that I get are complains about time delays, so my advice is sit back and enjoy the wait. Try not to panic :D

best regards and welcome to Apple's China Fedex delivery waiting list ahaha

My Macbook Pro left China on Friday and arrived yesterday. Not bad... 4 days shipping including the weekend.

It's very common for Apple to ship their products from China, especially when they are new on the market. My original refurbished machine came from Markham, Ontario (I live just outside Toronto) I think but that's because it was already in the Warehouse. My other MBP shipped from China and that was when they had just released new revisions. So yes it is very common.

Gah, I live on the West Coast in Vancouver Canada. My MBP is still enroute. It first left from China to Alaska. Then it went from Alaska to Tennessee and now I presume it is enroute to my doorstep. Could've shipped in 3 days or less had it been able to go from China to Alaska to Vancouver.

I was shocked to , "shipping from CHINA" and the fact they tried to bill me twice for the sale! ouch!

Im not to excited about chinese assembled stuff, I feel that companies that assemble in china are all about profit margins. Things like cutting out a god dam mac controller that probably makes them millions in profit cause they cost pennies to assemble.

In my experience chinese made is not great, I do alott of music recording and there is a plethora of chinese made microphones, when I look at the quality of lets say an MXL mic over a similarly priced JAPANESE assembled and made Audio Technica mic its superior.

Oh well Im excited to get MY FIRST MAC!

Macbook Pro just shipped from China???

My MBP came from China through Anchorage as well. It arrived in perfect condition and works perfectly. Oh, it was a day earlier than scheduled, too.

macbook pro from China : a good idea ?

I just checked the FedEx tracking number and it says In transit Picked up from Shanghai CN! Anyone else have theirs ship from China? I am very curious to know and if you did how long did it take to get to you?

Hello ! Have you received your macbook now ???
Did you bought it by ebay ?

By the way I just have bought a MBP from China with ebay, and would like to know if it was a good idea... (I don't have payed yet) The seller is a belgian guy with 100% positive feedbacks...

thanks:)

oh really? I can only think of a few reasons why YOUR mac is falling apart so easily:

1. Apple is lowering it's quality standard to keep the cost down, so lazy-ass can afford them.

2. Someone just happen to be illiterate, so they can't read user's manual.

or

3. God hates you (read: bad luck).

Pick one that suits best

I dont like it already.

Feedback is only valuable if it is for the same type of product over a significant period of time. Otherwise it could be a recently hacked account now being used to scam people. Things being shipped from 'scam prone' countries like china, all of africa or eastern europe are automatically suspicious to me as are people with overly complicated stories about why they are selling from that county. (IE wtf is a Belgian doing ebaying from china?) You should also look out for any unusual methods of payment, IE western union etc.

Personally, unless this person has a long history of selling similar products and is offering actual pics of the unit you will get and accepting payment by a method that will let you get your money back if he doesnt follow through (paypal, credit card) I would stay far away.

Okay I've bought stuff from China all the time, even on ebay, but when you buy a computer from China and the seller is not Chinese, I don't think that works out. It's sending your money to Nigeria after getting a call from some British sounding guy. You just don't do that.

Of course I could be wrong and it's a good deal, but I would be cautious.

Very Bad Idea

Unless the Belgian guy is NOT a reseller and selling his own MBP.

There is NO reason for Chinese Reseller to sell their stocks to overseas customers:

1. The wholesale price they get from Apple China is NOT significantly cheaper than wholesalers in UK/US.

2. Giving the shipping costs, their prices are just not competitive to Apple Store in US/UK.

The profit margin is low, there is no reason to sell Apple stocks to overseas.

3. Too many dodgy businessmen in China, especially on PC market. Ask any locals, they have to do so many researches before buying from resellers, PC or Mac, to avoid being conned.

If it is brand new and sold for a low price, there is only one possibility: his account has been hijacked.

Mine shipped from China too. At first I thought CN was a state and Shanghai was some small town :D

Came pretty fast though. Packaged well so no worries.

Wow :p

You guys remember the time that Chinese factory girl took her picture on an iPhone that ended up somewhere in the states? Wish they did that with everything and signed the picture. That'd be good fun :) Example: "This Macbook Pro was assembled by Ping", or something. Then we could praise/blame individual factory workers instead of Apple as a company :p

As fun as it sounds, I like to have my computer unsigned... now if Steve Jobs signed it, it would a different story. :D

Yeah - damn those "fast workers"! How can slow Americans possibly hope to compete?

Hmmm... not sure what you think goes on in a factory? Do you picture a guy sat at his workstation waiting for an order; then, when he gets one sits there building it from scratch and sealing the box himself? I take it you're from the US - heard of Henry Ford?

My Macbook Pro came from China too.

I thought it was weird to come from China as well, and the estimated time of arrival was a week. I'm about to burst with excitement waiting on it, should be here Tuesday. Right now it is in Memphis, Tennessee and i live just outside of knoxville, Tennessee so they must be taking the long way around for it to take that long to get here. Last time i bought my macbook pro i ordered it from the local apple store in the mall. I added 2 Gig RAM which made this one a special order so that is why its coming from China and not a local depot.

Help!!!!!

I NEED BUY 10 MACBOOK PRO FOR MY OFFICE!!!!!
PLEASE CHEAP PRICE AND SAFE PAYMENT METHOD LIKE PAYPAL

I ordered a refurb iPod last week- I, too, was shocked that it shipped from China. However, it shipped super fast. I would check the FedEx every couple of hours and it would be somewhere new, even throughout the weekend. The longest part of the process was Apple actually shipping the iPod (though they did tell me upfront that it could take 1-3 to ship it out). It shipped Friday and arrived Monday @ noon, 4 days ahead of the estimated ship date.

I've always been super impressed with Apple shipping, and FedEx, for that matter. If I miss answering the door, I can always swing by and pick it up later, whereas with UPS you're SOL until the next day. Also, UPS would just say screw it and dump it on the porch.

I don't really care that it's made in China- most things are. The only difference is that you don't really think about it when you buy from an American storeshelf.

My first 2 MBP's were shipped from China. Delivery was 3 days, i live in Denmark.

However, my UMBP was shipped directly from the hub in NL.

They used TNT for them all..
