I doubt it because mine is still stuck at step 1 and I also got the email. I think it was supposed to be delivered today, but the shipment via Luxembourg arrived 1 day later than expected. So they are loosely connected.

You have a year to buy it for Macs (i.e. until the standard warranty expires). For iOS devices etc. it's 60 days.DHL haven't updated their status yet, but just got the "Get Started e-mail" from Apple. Apparently delivery is gonna be today

In Belgium we have a legal warranty of 2yrs so I think it might be a bit expensive just to have one extra year...
(I also thought I was going to get an extended warranty with my visa but yesterday I found out there is an exclusion for laptops Even the people in my bank didn't know that).
I think you have one year to decide if you want to buy apple care.

Same situation. "Arrived at Delivery Facility in LONDON-HEATHROW - UK", which was at 6:21AM. Hopefully it gets moving today, otherwise I suppose tomorrow. Mine is being delivered to N1.
For me it feels like it is on one of the crashed DHL planes or trucks like shown in pictures. Or Tom Hanks in Cast Away uses it to make fire on his lost island.

I'm setting it up right now, but I can quickly say that it's nice! I don't see any scratches (like other people have reported). SIP is however disabled, as reported on some machines here https://www.macrumors.com/2016/11/17/system-integrity-protection-disabled-macbook-pro/.
