The funny thing is that mine was in a plane that landed at Luton - I guess so was yours. It'd have taken less time to drive from Luton to Docklands than Luton->Heathrow->Docklands.
Indeed, but common sense and bulk transport don't really go together. I mean it was quite close when it got to Amsterdam but then went to Leipzig which is more than twice as far away :)

Ah that's true, just 1-hour flight from Amsterdam...

It's easy to have a viewpoint of "That's just the way it is" when you have already, or about to receive your MacBook.

If they had to wait another week I'm sure it would be less understanding.

I'd love to see some statistics on online vs in store purchases country wide, because especially if you're ordering a base model it's particularly strange that you have to wait 4-5 weeks or directly pick it up in store. Can understand it's two separate inventories for online and brick and mortar, but it's still a pretty significant difference in time.

Here's what i'm seeing right now:

All the dates in your screenshot are excatly two days behind mine. If the schedule is the same, you should see the first change tomorrow (thursday) in the afternoon at the DHL page. In the late evening or friday early morning a change on the Apple and DHL tracking page. Apple will tell you that your macbook is scheduled for delivery on november, 20 (...). Friday morning the 25th you will see departure messages on the DHL page, and get your macbook in the afternoon.

You might receive it earlier than the 5th.
Mine order too is in preparing for shipping (for the same Mac, but with Italian keyboard and 25 Nov - 2 Dec as delivery window), and it looks like 2 other people with 24 Nov - 1 Dec as delivery window are in the same state!
Ah, ok! I'm guessing it will arrive earlier. I had huge problems with payment but now they have done a reservation on my credit card. Hope nothing more will screw things up.

When did your order change from Processing items to preparing for shipment, and how long has it been in preparing for..?

Yeah absolutely. Apple are at a strange place right now in the market and they really don't want to alienate their hardcore consumer-base that have shown loyalty to the brand.

In future I will think twice pre-ordering as it seems you get the product sooner by visiting one of their stores on a whim. I don't think there is any way of challenging this without looking like an immature, petulant child but we are handing over a lot of money, more than we have ever had to for a product in the Pro line, so I do think Apple need to re-evaluate the logistics. You can't have a guy pre-ordering as soon as the products become available and not receiving the product until a week after people who didn't pre-order and just walked in and bought one because they saw an advert on the day.

Again, I don't mean or want to look like a kid stamping his feet.

I also had some payment issues on Friday, but I immediately change my payment information and they charged it. My order switched to preparing for shipping during this morning.
So it took Apple 5 days to get your order from preparing for shipment to shipped? From Friday Nov 18th to today Wednesday 23rd? Doesn't look good to me then. Hope it will be shipped this week. It seems a lot of people are/was having problem with payment.

I called my local Apple Store (in Italy) and they confirmed that, beside the base models, they have "a few" top-of-the-line 13'' MBPs with 16 GB RAM in store. Unfortunately they also have the upgraded 3.3 GHz processor (why that instead of 1TB storage?), which means €2900... I'll have to keep waiting for my 12-15 Dec shipping :/

Well finally mi order was shipped and the delivery date is set for December 1st.

My delivery window were 25 november to 1 december

Didn't order on the Apple site but at an online store for students. Don't have any tracking code, does anyone have idea when I can expect my new macbook?

I ordered a MB Pro 15" 512GB standard model (not customised). I'm living in Holland.

Thanks you people.

External Web store told me their delivery didn't come today as expected!?!

Can't wait any longer.
