I ordered a standard 13" MBP the 21st but added a remote and an extra battery to my old white MB. Since theyre not shipped from the same location they need to be merged and that takes forever apparently. It's set for delivery the 5th. Thats more than two weeks!:(:eek::p:rolleyes::)

ahh tell me about it ,, can they just not send it in separate packages ?!?!

I ordered a MBP 13" today and the estimated delivery time is "1-3 november".
If there's enough stock, I think they ship directly from Ireland (or somewhere else in Europe, I don't remember).
Last month my cousin bought a white Macbook and he got it 2-3 days later.
But for my previous order, an BTO MBP + a case, it took like 8 days, because it was a BTO, it came from China.

I ordered a MBP 13" on Tuesday and received it yesterday (Thursday). It was shipped from Tennessee and came to me in Florida.

The wait for your new MBP always suck.
You're always anxiously listening for the mailman to come with the delivery.

Did you find the HD install easy? I want to replace the main HD with the new one in the post and then move the current one to the optibay .. you think there will be an issue with anything software side? like installing iLife11? I'll be putting the CD drive in to a USB external caddy that's BUS powered .. should be ok right?

The HD upgrade was easy as pie (replacing factory 5400RPM drive with a new 7200RPM drive). iFixit has a nice how-to guide. You only need a "00" (double zero) philips screwdriver and a T6 torx driver, if I remember right. The iFix it guide lists the tools you need. Basically, bottom cover comes out, unscrew and unplug original HDD, plug and screw in the new HDD, replace bottom cover and you're done. Format and re-install MAC OS X and iLife from included DVDs. Do this before you start personalizing and downloading stuff on your MBP so that there is no need for a backup, BUT make sure you turn it on when you first get it, register it and do a little web browsing, open up iTunes and a few other apps, etc. just to make sure everything works first before upgrading.

RAM is even easier to upgrade on your own.

I can't help you on replacing the optical drive with a 2nd HDD, I've never done it, but I'm pretty sure someone here knows how, I've read about it here and there. Try a search first and if you get nothing make a new post about how to do it.

I now have - "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" ... where's my tracking number!?!?!?!?!

It can take a few hours to a day for their system to show new tracking numbers.

Best part is when you finally see "out for delivery" on the tracking page :D

and it was updated last night too -

"Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date" -

Carrier Tracking Number
813**62244

Assigned Carrier
UK DISTRIBUTION CENTER

not much detail on who I can check with to see when its out for delivery :s

I had that status yesterday but it changed to TNT and a new tracking number appeared today so be patient!

UK Distribution Center is probably Apple's own distr. center, thats why.
:D

I had a pretty good experience with my MBP order and delivery. Ordered it Oct. 26th (tues) around 10pm along with a remote. I went for a HD upgrade so it had to be built first though the remote shipped the next day. Thursday morning I get an email saying it's been shipped strait outta China, estimated delivery date of Nov. 3rd. The following monday (Nov 1) I check the status in the morning and to my surprise I see those glorious words.."Out for delivery". So ordered it late night on a Tuesday and had it arrived at noon the following Monday, and it had to be built first. Not bad! Was shipped by FedEx FWIW. First Mac and loving it :D :apple:
