No plans to buy a new computer anytime soon. Just upgraded to the max 8GB RAM, seems more than adequate so far. I plan on getting an SSD in the future when I want another speed boost and SSD prices drop even more. Started playing StarCraft II on it on low settings, runs excellent.

I don't see the current MBPs as significant upgrades so I'll not get a new computer until there's something revolutionarily new like a Retina Display and HDMI output.

I just upgraded my 2009 2.2ghz Macbook Pro to Samsung 830 256GB SSD. I plan on adding 8gb of ram this week to replace the former 2gb. I am going to test it out and if I like the performance, I will hold off on upgrading. I dont really use it for photo/video editing. However, if the changes are much better battery life & less weight I might buy new and give the new parts to my wifes MBP.

Here's a hint: Apple will never ever make a MacBook Pro with an HDMI output.

2012 Macbook Pro will replace my 2006 macbook pro. It still works perfectly well, might I add but the case is crushed, dinged and cracked :p

Can't wait until Apple announce the new MBP. This monday i accidentally poured some liquid into my 2008 white Macbook and the thing just died. Worst timing ever. Every buyers guide says you should wait for new models, no matter if you are looking to buy an Air or a Pro. In the meantime I'll just have to get by with my iPad 2 until the new MBP is available.

Because...

Because the residuals of a 2009 MBP are still pretty strong, but the AppleCare is about to expire, I figured it was a good time to make an upgrade. 2.5 years with the laptop have been relatively trouble free, but the screen resolution is poor and since I do a fair bit of Windows-based development work using Parallels 7 and Windows 7 Enterprise N on the laptop, I could do with the ability to take 16Gb of ram and a faster CPU. Not to mention the possibility of a super-high resolution Retina display allowing me to use a higher resolution within Windows as it can be difficult seeing it all on the low resolution MBP screen.

Anyway, by my reckoning it's costing me £300 or so to make the switch from a 2009 to a 2012 13", memory aside, so it seems to me to be a no-brainer; around £100/year for my current laptop seems like money well spent :)
